Hiking in The Philippines Jungle - Exploring my Back Yard - Homesteading in The Philippines.

Our backyard is actually our Farm.
Today we are Exploring and seeing what we are doing as of February 11th, 2020 on our farm in the Philippines. We use our farm for Homesteading.

What is Homesteading?
Some people think it's like being a "Prepper". It's actually something quite different. "Preppers" prepare for doomsday or SHTF scenerios. As a Homesteader, we grow our own food (vegetables, fruit, nuts, animals, etc), we harvest our own water (from wells, springs, bamboo), and we LIVE off of what we grow and produce.

What do we do if we don't grow/raise enough?
We go to the market, or we trade with our neighbors.
We also have the ocean just a few hundred yards from our house, so fishing or vegetables from the sea are an option.

Where do we get our Power Supply?
We generate our own electricity using solar power. The electricity is stored in batteries so we can power our home/farm even when there is no sun or night time.

Why did we make this video?
1. We made this video so people can get a glimpse of what a farm can look like, what projects we do to create a successful homestead, and what it looks like before we can actually start planting (farm land needs to be prepared before planting - Lots of labor, being outside, rewarding, and a good workout).
2. This enables Veterans to see what kind of activities they can participate in if they want to join us for a retreat. (Note: this is not the only activity. We are on a tropical island with beaches and clear water for snorkeling, waterfalls, caves, and great hills for trekking/paragliding).
3. To illustrate to others that they can live a high quality life by doing something enjoyable and simple with their family.
