I love your Show Stefan! I love your voice and sense of wonder and humor. . . Maybe there wasn't very many of them when the next wave came to North America. Small families. Of course they must have passed on advance stone building technologies to the ancient South Americans! just kidding. (You are so cute!)

It seems to me that with oceanic/ sea levels rising and falling due to ice ages and interglacials over millennia, there could be much more paleoarcheological evidence to be found there . Sea levels were 400 feet lower 12,000 + years ago, and melting glaciers flooded much of the landscape around the globe. It makes sense to me that many distant cultures could have found it easier to travel by sea and along coastlines that are now in some places many miles away from current shorelines.

I remember watching a video about Polynesian rafts that can roam Pacific for six months. They would have a small hut, small pen for chicken and they would fish and collect rainwater. So indeed they can roam Pacific for months on end. Some of them simply hit South America driven by winds and oceanic currents.

Just a suggestion, and this isn’t my top choice of theories, but what if we’re assuming that everyone in the boats hugging the coast aren’t a homogeneous group. Part of the dark history of human women is that women were traded from one tribe to the next like food and goods. So, the theory would go that the woman/women with the odd ancestry were traded to the folks who hugged the coast down to South America.

Its complicated because of their and your sponsors. A scientists who dont have the courage to speak the truth are not worth its salt. Its obvious that at one time or another there were sailors crossing the oceans. To say it would turn the dogma science uppside down.

there was the land bridge from Indonesia out to Tonga. Broken and now the islands between when the Kermadec trench was created through the pulling up of Ika a Maui (personification) which started near Tonga and Fiji until its present situation New Zealand North Island. This is a little of why it happened.

What was sweet potato being grown by the Maori and throughout Polynesia before the European arrived ?
It is from South America ?

Obviously Maori people , could sail to South America and back.

The Hawaiians grew Taro and breadfruit which are NOT NATIVE to Hawaii. How did they get those crops ?

...or a group of Australoids sailed east over the whole Pacific and reached South America, contributing to its subsequent genetics. This would explain why
(a) there is evidence in South American people but not North American
(b) the percentage is no more than 1-3% - it was not a mass invasion, or a large preceding population, but a small migratory contribution
(c) there are no ancient remains of such people discovered, because there were no ancient people, it's a more recent migration.

People have been traveling the world long before Columbus. Africans to North, Central and South Americas east coasts, Asians to the Pacific coasts of North , Central and South Americas, Caucasians to North America etc.. Time will prove it all just watch, for many us have oral origin stories passed down.

I feel like an important thing to look for is the DNA evidence among Northeast Asian populations. If these people did indeed travel over land from Australasia to South America, then it follows that not only would they have interacted with North American peoples, but also with everyone they encountered along the way. I reckon that might be a key piece of the puzzle to examine and further our understanding of the roads these people would've travelled.

I'm mixed breed Indigenous Australian, Rebecca Gibney is in My NZ Family, Darwin in my English Family, and Nelson In my Australian ancestry.
Australians are the first or original peoples.
What I can't understand is WHY you must Always go from West to East, North to South. All Lands were once joined in what is now ANTARCTICA. You all drifted North. We were left behind.

The elephant in the room is, australasian and austronesian DNA in the amazon is because ancient australasian and austronesian populations made it across the pacific and into the amazon.. Something that DNA proves.. just because they haven't found archeological evidence doesn't disprove the conclusion, its because its harder to find archeological evidence..

I am a little tired of all this concern about some specific people, why not everyone? How many "tribe" people care about all the people that died during the black death for example? How many "indigenous" people care if groups in Europe etc loose their culture for some reason?
This constant harping away about how horrible everything is are similar to those so incredibly concerned about "slavery" for hundreds of years ago, but do not spend any time on those slaves we have today
"Tribes" and "indigenous" people have had thousands and thousands of years to develop their own civilization, of something they failed, now today they have roads, houses, medicine, law and order, light at night, they can travel etc etc

When did anyone ever hear any "tribe" or "indigenous" people ever say anything positive about our world as it is today? Is that perhaps the reason why they never developed, the glass is half empty?
