This is such a weak argument - we don’t live in closed countries where economies don’t interact with eachother. Part of the wealth billionaires (and overall countries) have is from the exploitation of the Middle East, parts of Africa (and other parts of the world). Both now and in history. Slavery and colonisation (I’ll just speak on Africa) was a massive extraction of wealth from Africa to Western Europe. It generally occurred as a capitalist mission in the goal for wealth. Also, just because the standard of living of poor people in the west is better the Middle East and Africa is nothing to write home about. The wealth need workers to operate their business and extract wealth from them, so there at least has to be some form of standard of living otherwise people would riot and choose not to work. I don’t really thing disgusting wealth gaps in a society is really a sign that capitalism has worked

I grew up very poor in Alabama. Yet, we had tv, all major appliances, govt housing and food, clean clothes to wear, warm bed , toys to play with, cars, and a loving mom. By world standards, that’s not poor. Poverty and wealth are relative to what others have, to what society says you should have in order to be happy. My sisters and I knew we were poor cause we didn’t have a lot of things our friends had or that we saw on tv or disposable income to pay for entertainment. We depended on extended family and church people to help us have those things. Proving we had the most important things of all: faith, hope and love.

I love Thomas Sowell, I despise socialism, but the way we have capitalism set up in the west is clearly broken. 3 families have more wealth than the bottom 50% of Americans.

This isn't to say that there aren't problems with stakeholder capitalism and a lot of the horrible things we see with the visions of the anointed entering into capitalism

Capitalism without socialism is as bad as socialism without capitalism. The only way a system can work for the people and for business is to have a socialist/capitalist Keynesian program of investment.

Many middle eastern countries were relatively affluent prior to the US destroying their industries and infrastructure. Didn't said nothing. There's 60M USA Citizens living bellow poverty line. Obviously that the poverty line in USA or in Europe is higher than in Brasil, Africa, Middle East or India 'cause the price of life is higher but in the end of the day they're miserable anyways. USSR's Socialism doesn't exist for years except for few Countries with dictatorial governments like Cubs, Venezuela or North Korea. Most Countries in Europe are ruled by Social Democracy Parties. Whoever confuses that with USSR's Communism/Socialism stoped in time.

Well, the rich aren't the problem, the wealthy are. Rich are those who got rich by their hard work, I'd say. Those with wealth accumulated through generations are who I'd consider wealthy. The Vanderbilts, the Rockefellers, the Rotschilds, the du Ponts etc. ... They do in reality accumulate wealth and arrange for the poor to remain so. By divide and conquer tactic they apply to the common folk. Where you think did the feminism and gender come form?
