I know im like 7 years late to this but,i had a lock down today because some stupid teenagers had threatened to st@b my entire school. It was genuinely terrifying since i had never experienced anything like this also keep in mind,the class i was in was RIGHT near the entrance of the school. I heard these stupid teenagers had been threatening other schools mine was the third one to be threatened. Its genuinely awful that people like that exist who will do this as a prank.

One time at my school we had to go on Lockdown. I was in the fourth grade my classmates and another class where in the Libary in the school and then we went on Lockdown and I was so scared even though I've been handling with Lockdown drills since the first grade I was scared cause I thought there was an actual shooter.And then when I looked into the hallway, I saw police officers walking down the hallway and my heart exploded and in head my I was like "Yep this is a real Lockdown" and I was crying because I thought I was going to die and I didn't want to die because I was 9 years at the time sometimes I overthink too much and then I found out that it was just a kid brought a toy gun to school and then at then end of the day teachers passed out their students with papers about the Lockdown.

Last time I had a lockdown drill due to a drunk military broke into the school trying to kill everyone cuz something is wrong with his head then we had to be oh my god dude we had to be there for several hours and I heard on the picture song keep going on 100% like an hour I don't know how did this happen but I'm good thing the police when you buy them

As a teacher...THIS is why new teachers, need a Mentor who is literally next door and willing to be with them regularly. Another great step is for new graduates to short-term sub for the year, so that they can get their classroom management sea legs underneath them, before having to also worry about content. We really throw new teachers in the deep end, college programs do NOT prepare them efficiently. This underserves students, communities and the new teacher (who has a 50% chance of quitting in the first three years).
