NPN Transistor as a Switch

A transistor's switching action is based on the voltage applied at the base terminal. The collector to emitter voltage is almost equivalent to 0 when a sufficient voltage (VIN more than 0.7 V) is supplied between the base and emitter. As a result, the transistor performs the function of a short circuit.
