Hey everyone this is Orlando Streets and today we are driving to Mount Dora Florida which is 46 minutes drive from Downtown Orlando.
Approximately 13,000 people live in Mount Dora. Mount Dora retains the flavor of a small town with many historic buildings and large canopy trees.
The town is also known for its variety of antique specialty shops and numerous special events throughout the year.
Mount Dora's annual events draw thousands of visitors including the Mount Dora Arts Festival in February, Spring Fest in March, Sail Boat Regatta in early April, Independence Day Parade on July 4th, Bicycle festival in early October, Craft Fair in late October and the Annual Christmas festival from November thru December.
Mount Dora also overlooks Lake Dora. Lake Dora is approximately 6 miles long covering 4,500 acres of water. Lake Dora has some of the most expensive real estate in Lake County.
Mount Dora is home to many parks. My favorites are along the Lake Dora shoreline namely; Elizabeth Evans Park, Granthum Park and Palm Island Park.
My favorites are Granthum Park and Palm Island Park.
Palm Island Park has a raised boardwalk about a third of mile long. There is lots of wildlife to see along the boardwalk and plenty of places to sit down and just enjoy the view. The Spanish moss is beautiful at sunset and the area usually isn't too crowded.
The Alexander House opened in 1883 – a two-story hotel with 10 rooms. A popular winter retreat for hunters, fishermen, and boaters. The Alexander House was renamed Lakeside Inn and remains in operation today. President Coolidge, President Eisenhower, Thomas Edison, and Henry Ford have visited this iconic hotel.
I hope you enjoyed our visit to Mount Dora.
