A firefly visited us in our room the other night. Its been a long time since the last time I saw it. Maybe Iam just 8yrs old back then and now im 39

I lived in northeast Pennsylvania and there used to be so many..like in beginning of video..fields of them! I loved catching them when I was a kid..but when I visit many years after moving away I was shocked to see none😭

I used to wonder what could this be but when I knew I thought they were magical😂 and my mom laughed at me, l used to play with them when I was a bit younger.

This makes me nostalgic. I remember seeing hundreds of them literally lighting and the darkness in a remote/rural area in Brazil. That was in the 80s. Now they are almost extinct after the place developed… 😞

The trees here used to be lit up dramatically during their season about 25 years ago here, but they are pretty sparse now.

We took some high school students to Washington D.C. a few years back, and one evening while standing near some plants, I heard a very distinct sound, and when I turned around, I noticed an orchestra of flashing lights and poppings sounds. The trip to Washington was great, but the encounter with the fireflies was one of the most epic highlights of my entire life. I haven't seen any since, but I hope to be some place where I can see and hear them again, hopefully before I depart one day.

In the Giant Mountains in the Czech Republic, I regularly see them at night in the forests in the first half of July.
It is an unforgettable experience, but there must be warm nights without precipitation.
There are only a few such nights a year here.

I used to see fireflies every night when I was younger, but now there's non. I miss them 😢

They are attracted to small spot of light i was smoking a joint during the night and the firefly were around each time i was taking a puff because the orange spot of light that is emitted from the joint resemble to the light they use to signal each other their presence it was quite special to get stone while you're surrounded by 15 fireflies fly around you it was magic and even unreal !

I only catch one firefly in my life after that never seen one

I haven’t seen one since I was a kid. I do hear crickets and katydids on summer evenings from August to early September, and for me the singing of those animals is nostalgic. The nostalgia factor also applies to cicadas when they start their buzzing Cicada Symphonies earlier during the day.
