There are a million ways to relate to our nervous systems.
As it pertains to trauma, we often experience that our nervous system runs us- we don't run it.
Our body responds and reacts to subconscious and conscious stressors. We could nerd out about vagal nerve and polyvagal theory but I want to give you tools that are brass-tack ways of relating to ourselves that put us in the driver's seat of our lives. (This is called having an internal locus of control.)
So, I am going to give you three of the most important tools that I have seen work for people clinically and what has worked for me personally to regain balance and help me decide what my body, mind, and heart need to feel good in each moment ESPECIALLY when I am feeling a little lost, or off kilter.
