Sadly, I made the same mistake today. I have a 1996 Chevy S-10 same engine, but five speed. I was just driving down the highway and the RPMs got heavy and it shut off. Then I realized that older vehicles need to have the oil checked and I started it up and had a knock to it. I’ve only driven a 2015 and 2020 I’m only 18 so I’ve only been driving for two years And it’s sad because I am a mechanic and I know to check the oil, but I forgot because I was so caught up with work. But instead of destroying my truck, I think I’m gonna pull the motor and swap a 4.3 into it
