I Interviewed Niantic about Selling Pokémon GO to Scopely

I believe the focus needs to shift from PokéStops and gyms. Consider if the game has any longevity and they continue as they are. The world will become over saturated with gyms, and PokéStops. For example I live in a big city. I literally don’t have to leave my couch and can access multiple PokéStops and a gym. Same thing applies when I go to work. The overabundance of PokéStops and gyms In my opinion, defeats the purpose of the game, which, as the gentleman stated is to get people out and about. I believe Pokémon go isn’t going anywhere but May have a hard time building their fan base moving forward if particular changes aren’t made at the end of the day let’s not forget what this is really about… moneyMoneymoney so it all really depends on what they think is gonna make them the most money

Despite all that was said in the video, I am waiting to see if Scopely will just milk as much money and data* out of Pokémon GO players before selling it to the next buyer some time down the line and the game gets resold over and over until it either gets a buyer that grows its hype/profits agan** or it becomes no longer profitable and gets shut down like Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

* Information such as location and purchasing habits - for example when one goes to places like McDonalds' or Starbucks)
** Dominic Law bought Neopets and for an old game it seems to be making a comeback.

Got a question...so i had local players tell me that not every place can be a pokestop/gym..they explained it but I didn't really get it..i was trying to nominate my work (papa johns) to be a pokestop but they told me that it wouldn't become one..something about historical value..y can't a pizza place be a pokestop? Alot of people walk by, they come inside It would be a great pokestop I think..pizza places, restaurants, and stores could be great pokestops.

I don't mind the raid remote limits but I think 35 a week vs 5 a day would make more sense with people playing with time allows.

I’m gonna assume most of y’all haven’t been corporate too often because this is way more open than 90% of companies will allow. Obviously he’s not gonna put negativity towards the buy out/new company but this was solid

Sales like this are never to the benefit of the customer. That being said, I can’t believe people are still playing this game almost a decade after release.

I came back to trainer tips to see what was happening in the pogo world. The last time I also so Nick do a interview with a lady from Niantic. Same corporate jargon.

If spending money "isn't required to enjoy the game", then what's going on with the raids? And the price on Raid Passes, Battle Passes, pokeballs, even the Bundle Boxes aren't worth the price.

The current state of the game is honestly sad right now- BEFORE Scopely even takes over.. Grind those raids while we can still afford to feed our families, fellas.

The why is simple, money. Why else would a company sell something and why else would another company buy something? To make money.

This has a strong potential for it to best for the pokemon company, niantic, and scoply including all 3’s customers, players, and fans.

To be honest it’s not like running a massively successful game is easy. So there will definitely some hurtles to get over.

That being said, having a license with the top grossing ever franchise by a pretty wide margin ever to a game that’s already been successful, has a consistent player base, is profitable already, and is a completely unique to that franchises other titles already puts you in a amazing position.

Separating the data farming part, gaming, and pokemon part to just gaming and pokemon makes more sense to lead to the most profit for all parties.

Also long as scoply just sits back and doesn’t really do shit and let the teams already deployed to do their things while, scoply will make a lot of money and the game will be better then ever.

If scoply swaps the mapping out for money focused model. We are in trouble and so are they. But I trust the pokemon company

Enable spoofing and unban all the accounts that have been made. A lot of the spoofing community can't get out and go places due to JOBS, Rural Areas and Capabilities. I'm wheelchair bound and can't get out much and i have had a few accounts banned for spoofing.

Honestly, I think it’ll be fine. As someone who spends a good amount of money in Pokémon GO, I think Scopely will just add more paid stuff that we could potentially buy😊

To his point about Monopoly GO, it was probably in development hell like Duke Nukem Forever was for 2 decades. I'm sure it didn't take 7 years to come out because they were doing something great.

I stopped playing roughly a year ago. I guess it was the right time to let it go as everything g about it didn’t bring me joy anymore.
So from an outsider perspective this all sounds a very PR move to not have to say „why wouldn’t we sell, we get a shitload of money for it. Laters, losers“

Niantic needed someone to buy them out. They're incompetent. Hopefully ALL the programmers are laid off and a new qualified team is brought in. Niantic was never able to get a grip of its dreadful coding errors
