I loved my Cerwin At100's I bought back in 92. My neighbors did not.
ОтветитьI want Carver gear.
Ответитьmiss my 2100d
ОтветитьWhat about Teac? As far as speakers are concerned I’m going to use the same verniculor as we used in the seventies and 80’s. I think a speaker needs as big as you could afford, and it also needs total harmonic distortion to be low. I would never just buy a two way speaker. It had to be a three way speaker with a tweeter, midrange and woofer speakers. My system includes a Teac stereo, a BSR cassette and 6 disk cd changer. My turntable is Scott. And my three way speakers (4) are by Realistic. Sometimes I’ll put this system out on my deck and pretend it’s a live performance. I don’t have neighbors within a quarter mile of me, but believe me I can shake the ground and maybe be in jeopardy of noise ordinances if decibels were measured. I do have some digital music on my phone, but I basically think its a waste of my time trying to listen to that vs. hearing what I do on a competent system.
ОтветитьEarly 70s best time
ОтветитьI had a pair of Cerwin-Vega HED car speakers for a while - in my car the grills ALWAYS stayed on.
The same model was a popular choice for "boom cars" of the era - which is not why I wanted them, I had them in a hatchback and needed the extra designed-in bass response to get ANY bass out of that setup.
Empire turntable
ОтветитьI Have a Marantz DC 1300 amp that I would sell.
Ответитьis there replacement 15" Vega red woofers ?
ОтветитьCapehart turntable, 8 track, AM/FM, L shaped couch combo was the BEST (for building a fort in the living room) ✌️
Ответить7 ? there's only 2 Marantz and Pioneer , and the ever elusive turntable , the B.I.C 920 .
ОтветитьI have a pioneer sx 1980 I bought new in probably 1980 approximately with the pioneer hpm 150 speakers with the glass tweeters , I have the original boxes and paperwork for everything and the value is surprising after all these years, I will probably keep it all forever just watch the value increase,
ОтветитьAgree with your #1 spot.
ОтветитьApparently it's time for me to go back out and see if I can reconstruct my Kenwood set up, how in the world did Kenwood not make this list. Back in the late 70s and early 80s, I checked out virtually every type of conglomeration, or construct of receivers and speakers, and nothing made a better and more reliable system than a Kenwood system, and I believe I used Harman Kardon speakers. But I had a pair of cheap speakers that I do not remember the name of, that were only a two-channel, but they were really wonderful. And I would always use the instrumental portion of Lucky Man to listen to every setup that I can find at different stereo stores and I could not find anything to beat the Kenwood receiver and other related elements.
The thing I was most impressed with is everybody I knew that had any of these others that you speak of, had sent them in to be repaired at least once, in their first two years of ownership, I had Kenwood equipment for over 20 years, that I never had a problem with not a single time. Everything on it was overbuilt for its application. Which was the reason why Kenwood was in business was to make it where you didn't have to fix it.
Cerwin Vega is still making speakers to this day
ОтветитьSadly, vintage Hi-FI has become wayyy too expensive nowadays. I remember getting a Marantz 2270 or a Sansui Eight in good condition for about 200 Euros. Now you have to pay three or four times as much.
ОтветитьMarantz was expensive back in the 70s but with most it had too many buttons, a lot to break in my mind. Yamaha came out with its sleek minimalism and looked good but very pricy. I settled for a Sansui system and glass/wood case and was very happy…that was in ‘78. I still have the Sansui speakers and they loud and good as new?
ОтветитьWhat about Klipsch La Scala speakers? Probably not enough old timers around anymore to request these babies.
ОтветитьI have Carver equipment, separate power amp, pre-amp, and receiver, along with Denon turntable, all going thru Klipsch Kg4 speakers....
ОтветитьI have for sale: Technics SP10-MKII Turntable w/ power supply.
Technics SH-10B3 obsidian plinth
Shur SME Model 3009 tonearm
Stanton 881S cartridge
All in excellent working condition. If your customers or commenters might be interested, please reply.
is a teac v9 any good
ОтветитьA friend of mine have me a Luxman L100, which seems to be in "DC lock". Is it worth fixing? Too expensive of a repair?
I am thinking of getting it repaired.
I still have my 1973 JBL decades and added ther L100 in 1981.. they'll be in my will for some lucky soul ;-)))
ОтветитьI've had a pair of JBL L155 speakers since new, with an Accuphase E303 Integrated Amplifier and a Lyn Sondek turntable with a Dynavector tone arm. The whole lot cost me $6000 in around 1978. Would worth a small fortune today. I'm in Melbourne Australia.
ОтветитьI'm a Brit Hi Fi nut so the vintage big names are; Leak Stereo 30 amp, Rogers amps, Quad amps are really sought after. Thorens decks, Kef speakers, Celestion speakers . Cambridge monitors. Lower down Wharfedale speakers were popular.
ОтветитьI just subscribed. It is great to see a channel talking about vintage stereo equipment from the 1960s, 70s, 80s, and even somewhat newer WITHOUT falling into promoting tube based equipment. The only downside to stereo receivers of that era is the remote controls are rather rare. For daily use I want something a bit newer just for the convenience and laziness factor of not having to get up to make adjustments.
Lastly, I love that you aren't promoting (at least so far as I've seen) multi-thousand dollar items and snake-oil cables, etc.
I have carver equip looking to sell, I don't use anymore.
ОтветитьI always desired Infinity Speakers with the fine wood and quality of sound.
I was lucky to get a hold of a pair of ref std 3;s and some monster cable. I worked for a company in NJ many years ago. I had to rebuild the speakers with repair kits as the cone support materials totally left the speaker hanging only by the magnet. Luckily the magnetw we so strong they payed just fine but air loss hurt the base. So I ordered the parts and put them back like new. They are from early 70's and in the 50 year range. I use Yamaha natural sound equipment from preamp, power amp, cd player, 1200 cassette decks and 1 800 for plyback use.I have 2 turn tables 1 marntz linear, and 1 other regular. I was also fortunate to get a lot of referrence std cassettes with the metal parts that ply well over all these years. I have to rebuild 1 of the Yamaha cassette decks that use the nachamich mechs as they may eat a tape from all the wear. One I can no longer use until I replace belts, and parts in the mechs. It is a real job to tear them apart to rebuild the entire mech so I await the time to do so. I have 1 set for the 1200's and am going to order a few spare sets in case for the future. It is impossible to hear any difference from a properly match 1200 yamaha playing hi end cassette, with a cd player also Yamaha and the decks are excellent with reproduction. I even recorded a few of my UHQR albums and still can noot tell the difference from cassette, UHQR or the cd and cd's I made from FLAC files as well. But cd players do not ear out the media, no demagnitizing, & a puff oc clean air once decade keeps the cd's always 110%!!!
I love music, had a band up in NJ playing in NY state when we had work. I did not like any of the items you spoke of as I wanted pretty good stuff since I ws younger 50 years ago. I owned enough businesses so I was lucky to know some people from NYC and got to check out a lot of things I was interested in. I assume you have a ton of the things you mention on the video but they are very low in price and I always believed you got what you paid for in electronics and I had the dvantadge of getting some great deals with the manufacturers. I even hace a 10.5 inch reel to reel as well and tapes which probably cost as much as a planet by now. Again belt replacing on that reel was easy as it was built to open and repair and is large. Pioneer made good decks many years ago. It still runs at 110% as well.
I am a bit nervous getting into that Yamaha 1200 deck as it is easy looking at the service manuals I bought yers ago from Yamaha but it is quite a lot of unsoldering to get it all apart because it is small for big mits like mine.
If anyone is interested in the yamaha 1200 cassette I will let it go because I have two of them but I wanted a spare because they are so rare now and the remote is another hard to find item as well. I have n entire room in my home in Florida for music listening so I do enjoy these great items when I need to chill when I can.
P.S. If you have a web site and I find it I will have a look there but I did not see one, so let me know if I missed it. I still work making languages courses for government, other countries, the verge joe and internet customers at 77 years today and I love helping others to learn. I love model r/r, drones, camera photography, and street rods as well. I built an entire B&M model r/r ho scale in a big room at home as well. Life is good as long as there is music in it #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I added a link to see you again in the future. RC

Oh, how I miss our record playing parties back in the 70's. A bunch of us would gather at our friends apartment and listen to our favorite records on Saturday nights. He had a Marantz receiver, Technics turntable, and speakers that were like 5 feet tall, (I forget the brand).
We would "donate" LP's to his collection and then when we would gather, he would DJ. The amazing thing is that he was legally blind with like 20/100 vision but would find our request and cue it up on the turntable in a flash, perfectly, first time every time.
Four early twenties couples, music, dancing, weed, beer, and...LOVE! ✌️
Bose amp that went with Bose 901 speakers
ОтветитьBose
ОтветитьI had Giant Jenson speakers… they could be heard the next city over
ОтветитьI had a Sansui 8080dB. It was a great receiver. Just spinning the selector knob was an experience. Beautiful dark walnut case, excellent face graphics. Mated with Bose 901s and the sound was perfect.
ОтветитьI had a Marantz 2230. It was 30 watts per channel. It did not have 2 sets of speakers. Just a right/left system. It spyro select for the radio. I hade a turntable and a Sony Cassette Tape Recorder.
ОтветитьWe still have our Onkyo Grand Integra M508 & P308 paired with Infinity RS4B towers, Yamaha linear tracking turn table and Onkyo FM receiver. Love to put on some old rock and watch those needles move. Had the M508 serviced about 10 years ago and also sent the Infinity woofers off to have them redone. Good as new now.
ОтветитьI have 2 on your list. My 2270 from 1973,and my Klipsch Cornwall one's from 1974. Together they sound great
ОтветитьI was given a mint Sansui G-5500 and I'm really diggin it! My Marantz 1060 has been taking a well deserved break.
ОтветитьMy Marantz 2270 now sits in the
National Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa.
Late '80s and I got into entry level Nakamichi. Got the CDP-2 and it gave me 20 years of great music. Gone through three other brands since.
ОтветитьI have a Luxman, not sure of the model as I am not home, but I have loved it.
ОтветитьI have that same Marantz, it was my dads I’m the second owner it’s in our living room and we love it, they don’t make stuff like this anymore
ОтветитьI have a Sony EL7 plus loads of tapes, great quality
ОтветитьAre Sansui SP3500 and SP 2500 Viet Nam era speakers worth anything ??
ОтветитьThe Fisher? Too vintage?
ОтветитьA few years back, while at the local dump, I spotted a receiver. Into the truck it went. It is now set up and ready for use. After watching your video, I checked and sure enough it is a Marantz 2270. Your video made my day. Now if I could go back and find a wood case for it. I love the look of the old wood cases.
ОтветитьI realize it is probably;y really a Pioneer, but I still have my Radio Shack STA-2000 Receiver with the original Mach-One Speakers. It still works. This was bought on a lay-away plan over more than a year, ending in 1981. Sorry, I know it's not the greatest gear, but it was what I could afford - and hey, a lot of the money that paid for this was made doing contract programming for people and companies that were referred to me by the store manager - writing basic on a real TRS-80 computer. The receiver originally came with an EQ and a Turntable. I still have about 10 boxes of LP records. Sadly back in those days, I thought they would always be available and I didn't take good care of them. I also have a Pioneer RT-909 Reel to Reel Tape Deck and a few tapes. This was the one that took the 10-inch reels and had auto reverse if you were any good at sticking the silver reverse tape to the correct side of your tape. I have had various other gear over the years, like the Luxman cassette deck that I finally gave up on once it ate all the belts. Ahhh, the life of a poor man. If you happen to in or near the Houston area, check out River Oaks Car Stereo. They have been collecting vintage gear in recent years. I have been friends with the owner for more than 40 years.
ОтветитьCan you tell me if a tu 999tuner and a au 999 sansui is of any importance or price thx
