Psychologist here. I know a thing or two about league but I know a little bit more about things being not fun anymore.
Maybe I'll throw a shark in the pool there but ... Maybe the reason league gets less fun the more you climb is because you reach a state where you can't do goofy shit without being punished for it.
It's all about the lenght of the window you're operating from. The higher you play, the narrower it gets. My guess here would be that the window doesn't allow you to play Singed in high elo without getting shit on ? And if you can play singed at high elo, can you play the same way or does it have to be boringly consistent ? So does it have something to do with smurfing somehow ?
But the thing is it's a mix between how well you, at a singular level, can operate and how well the opponent react.
This means that theoritically, given the same mindset, a master level player playing at masters elo has the same fun as a silver level player at a silvers elo.
To rephrase it because I'm not sure about my approximate english : The relativity here is important because it's "fun" only when the stakes are not higher than what you can reach at any given moment.

To go back a bit about the "boringly consistent", habits getting boring may be close to what you were refering to.

The only champ I can fight Darius with level 1 is sett, the Darius often goes to the bush on my side so I wait there with my w level one and get the first autos on him. If the Darius is dumb he’ll auto me and build my grit, when it’s full I use my w on him. Smart Darius will try and flash away but at that point I just flash as well. Another fun away before lethal tempo came back was hail blades sett. Very fun.
