as a person who was raised in the church, that prayer she did at the end was guaranteed 100% her best attempt at a word for word recreation of something she heard her pastor (or bible study leader or something) say during prayer at a recent service or church gathering. 9/11 has nothing to do with this video, shes just repeating the topical prayer she heard the night before at wednesday night service while the bucket was going around.
the way she talks, this religious affectation that she has taken on, is the way people who were raised in the church talk when being performative. its the way you get clout in the culture. you "pray right" and "look right" when worshiping. gotta make sure everyone knows how much more spiritual you are than everyone else.
but she's still new to it, and it shows. to the uninitiated she may sound like shes very churchy, but i can tell she's still clumsy in her mimicry of church culture.
but give her time, a couple of church retreats and a mission trip or two and she'll be performing spirituality for church clout with the best of them.
to be clear, im still very much a christian, as in i believe in and have a relationship with god, i just recognize that church culture is fake bullshit. this is comedy gold tbh. what a clown
Her addressing her enemies as "people who did me dirty" and "feels like they owe me an apology" are the only sentences people need to understand, she has not changed. She cannot decide she forgives everyone for everything when they haven't forgiven her, needless to say have not given her an apology she had once demanded out of them. Take Jessi for instance, she demanded an apology from her, and when she did not get it, Gabbie carried on defaming Jessi's name, referring to Jessi has her abuser. There is no reconciliation here. This is the narcissism leaking out. They put on a facade so people can only see one side, but behind the other side is a calculated plan. She wants her career back, but it's too late.
Ответитьto be fair, she wasnt saying people deserve bad things happening to them because they dont serve god, she was saying that when people choose to be evil and do evil things, good people fall victim to those evil people. not necessarily that youre evil if you dont serve god, but that evil people are not serving god when they do evil, and that by doing evil things to others, they are choosing to not follow god. its NOT god's will that people do evil things to each other.
also, i dont think she actually understands anything she's saying, she's just repeating smth she heard at a recent service. im just clarifying the belief system, as i recognize it and am familiar with it.
whether one subscribes to this mode of thinking is none of my business, just wanted to clarify what it actually meant, and that it wasnt some terrible god punishment thing, but rather the opposite. shes basically repeating baby's first theology from a particular corner of non-denominational protestant christianity that explains why god allows bad things to happen. he gave us free will and therefore people can choose to be evil and do bad things, just as they can choose to be good and do good things.
Tana needs an apology too. Yeah, she's problematic, but she didn't deserve to have Gabbie shopping her trauma around to the highest bidder.
Ответитьhey god, as you know, September 11th
Ответить"I'm a lot a bit of a bitch" same Sajak, same. Making men cry IS heartwarming, you're so right 💕
Ответитьalso like if you're not in church service, you're fully supposed to pray in private. like jesus was very into not making faith into a public spectacle
eta one of the instances i'm thinking about might have been Paul, which like get fucked Paul, but a broken clock is still right twice a day.
I think the giggling and singing was her doing that thing evangelical christians do where they act constantly elated and overjoyed bc of Jesus. It’s absolutely just a character she’s playing. Also, I wonder if she’s still friends with Jimmy Snow during this Jesus era 🤔😅
ОтветитьIt's been wild to watch this whole saga play out. I really hoped we were done when she left. I really hoped she was taking care of herself after the big tiktok meltdown. I know that's parasocial, but it has been kind of painful to watch all this and see all the people left behind that she's hurt. As soon as she posted the video about being a dance teacher, I knew she was coming back. I just... don't know how to feel anymore? Beyond feeling bad for all the people who actually know her that she's hurt. If I'm a rando on the internet being angry and exhausted, I can't imagine how it feels to be someone actively affected by her.
Ответить“Im not a mean person” bold claim considering you're the reason I should be in therapy. 😒
ОтветитьGabbie seriously more heart into a prayer about 9/11 victims than an apology to people she victimized. fuck this woman
Ответить“it rhymes with Jessi Smiles” 💀💀💀💀💀😅😅😅😅
ОтветитьI feel like maybe this is part of some 12-step program or something. This and the "religious awakening"
ОтветитьShe should pray for forgiveness for her sins, and pray for her change of heart, so she can do right by the people she wronged. That' what I think a christian would do.
ОтветитьI’m confused why Peter Monn is always calling for influencers to speak up on things and make statements but he thinks “lol sorry” and a prayer is good?
ОтветитьJessi called it first, “Gabbie Hannah will never stop.”
Honestly, I think Gabbie and Jessi have a mutual agreement to never speak the other’s name online ever again. She refuses to ever talk about Gabbie on the DWKT podcast. I doubt she WANTS Gabbie ever talk about her again, so her apology missing doesn’t bother me.
She should have absolutely apologized to Rachel, though.
a prayer for the 9/11 victims in an apology video is crazzzyyyy
ОтветитьI love Peter, enjoy his videos. I REALLY disagreed with his take on Gabbie’s video.
ОтветитьThe giggling did feel like dupers delight to me...
Ответить“Accountability” is a blocked word for Gabbie.
BS that these creators, and the people that support them, get away with this stuff.
Really pissed about Jessi getting pulled back in every time Gabbie posts.
Can’t wait to go to hell, where she won’t be.
A general public apology with our a direct private apology is a performance for views. Something gabbie is REALLY good at.
Ответитьmy gf doesn't know anything about gabbie other than the cycle and my discussing the cycle. 'oh has it been...3 months? time for a new mental illness and song/merch to sell'. also it's very obvious she doesn't have....friends...people...anyone?? to talk to about any of this? even about her work and getting feedback yknow? if she does have 'people' they aren't...friends...
ОтветитьYou're like the gabbie hanna scientist. i love it. (and all the rest of your content btw <3)
ОтветитьI always thought that people saying they'll "pray for you" as a way to subtly (or not-so-subtly) take a dig at you would be as nasty as a non-Christian saying they'd pray to Satan for you.
ОтветитьBlaming non Christians for 9/11 was not on my gabbie hanna apology bingo card...
ОтветитьOn the Peter Monn front i think he just kind of missed the mark wirh this one. He (like you said) tries to see the best in people almost to his detriment at times. I still think hes great but sometimes it feels like hes not willing to see the problem with how hard hes looking for the good.
ОтветитьI usually agree with Peter's takes but this about gabbie caught me by surprise for sure.
ОтветитьShe needed to stay off the internet. Some people just can’t…shameless
Ответитьgod aye, remember hello leesh
ОтветитьLowkey idk why she had to add prayer like I believe in god and stuff but don’t fricking be making it my business or bringing other ppl into it. It all just looks like for show and she knows it’s bullshit just like how we know it’s bull
ОтветитьI can answer the question posed in the title: it's for her. It's for Gabbie to congratulate herself on how humble, how worldly, how godly she is being, preach to the audience and plug her merch.
ОтветитьI feel like it's important to remember that Gabbie doesn't just ALLOW her fans to treat her "enemies" poorly and (in some cases) abusively, she ENCOURAGES it. Anyone else remember the "defend me as you see fit" Patreon post? Because I do! She basically told a bunch of children, young adults, and new adults WHOSE BRAINS WERE NOT DONE DEVELOPING, "Yeah, I not only know about but I approve of you attacking/bullying the people I don't like." That's fucked up, no matter how you try to spin it. Where's THAT apology, Gabs?
ОтветитьI will legit NEVER forgive GH for what she did to Jessie Smiles. Jessie is an amazing woman who went through hell and GH was disgusting to her. F GH
Ответить"amputate me" healed me.
ОтветитьThe amount of “I” and preaching about her journey in a prayer about the victims and survivors of 9/11 is so cringe. I know a Christian grift when I see one.
Ответитьher prayer had me gagging. the self importance and the holier than thou attitude sent me straight back to when my abusers would have a prayer after a session of fake apologies and gaslighting. I guarantee pretty soon she's going to go on a tiktok rant about how forgiveness is so important, with thinly veiled references to how everyone else is just bitter and not being lead by the lord's 'love'.
ОтветитьJessi Smiles, Trisha Paytas, and Rachel Oates absolutely deserved to be apologized to by name and Gabbie should have reached out to them. It's really shitty that she's acting like she's absolved of guilt, but she's done nothing to prove she's grown or changed as a person.
Ответитьshe's about to go alt-right,the dog wistles are already scalating
Ответитьshe’s gonna fall into the alt-right trump supporter pipeline next, I’m calling it now
ОтветитьI completely agree. Gabbie has patterns and another one is starting. Maybe it’s another manic episode starting? I don’t know. But it’s starting again.
ОтветитьTo have within a "prayer" for 9/11 victims, people who ABSOLUTELY DID NOT DESERVE WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM, "...and we know that when people choose not to serve you, horrible things happen." Like... The back-handedness in that alone??? Wtf!
Ответитьthe fuck was that prayer, a nation united?? them who??? w ha t
ОтветитьYup to everything
ОтветитьHer apology had all of the perfunctory and performative vibes of someone who is asking God’s forgiveness for their sins which, given her recent pivot, is probably what drove her to make the apology in the first place.
Of course I don’t know her or her thoughts but I have seen how fundamentalists view forgiveness. For many of them, it’s not at all about the person harmed, it’s about THEM and GOD and since they can imagine what god is feeling and thinking, they KNOW that they have done all that is required of them. They are cleansed of sin and can now go back to being a beacon of virtue and righteousness.
If I can be petty for a second, something that stands out to me is Gabbie is just... bad at praying - specifically for other people, I think. Her prayer at the end is so absolutely hollow. No genuine thought, no genuine emotion, just empty hollow nothingness. In her videos when she's talking about religion in regards to herself, at bare minimum I believe she believes it BECAUSE of how she feels it elevates her above other people, but in trying to come up with a prayer about other people and their sacrifices, she can only barely pretend to care and she's pretending badly. It's fascinating but also I'm cringing out of my own skin.
