You really went through all this work and didn't lube the drive system with a little silicone grease? Use labelle 108 hobby lube. Plastic and metal safe, plus it has a huge needle to work it into hard to reach parts WITHOUT disassembly. You may have to do it a few times to work it into the gears.But it's totally possible ask me how I know.

I had the PSP 3000 and it was the best thing i had ever bought... after six months of use my lil bro bathed it in strawberry milkshake and it slowly died after that
