Why not hire people who own drones to survey the ocean. We need beaches to be guarded or put up netting.

When I was at Panama City last year we were in thigh high water and a baby or smallish sized shark was swimming around all the swimmers. Later a larger sharks dorsal fin could be seen near the pier swimming towards all of us in the water. We could hear people on the pier yelling for everyone to get out of the water. It was very scary especially to see some people continuing to swim out further from shore knowing sharks were around. My children and I stayed at the shoreline and just let the waves roll over us. After that there was no way we were going to back in the water deeper than our calves and ankles

The bull shark that slammed the jet ski was a “get the eff out of here, this is our territory.” The attacks might’ve been for the same reason.

I think the video about the duck being chased by the Bull Shark just goes to show you how much of a little chance you have to survive. However the people who has survived these attacks are extremely lucky. I can’t believe though watching that video how fast that shark was & coming all the way to shore

At the end where you show the difference between a shark and a dolphin's dorsal fins, just be aware that the image you show as a dolphin also looks a lot like a hammerhead sharks dorsal fin. Basically if you see a dorsal fin out of the water just play it safe and assume it's a shark.

This happened to my sister several years ago! She was standing on a sand bar when all of the sudden she felt like something behind her when she look back it was a shark a big one it look like a bull shark she jumped in the water real quick like that duck and she made it, the shark swam all the way towards the shore. Since that year my sister has never gone to the beach this happened like way way before the pandemic so you can make up the years. It happened in Miami Beach I love the ocean have great respect for it but this one here haven’t been to any beaches too and not interested either.

Glad everyone was okay and the people who helped her get out of the water did what they did and to the people on the beach who wrapped the tourniquet around the bite wounds, it’s very good that some people are still able to put down the phone, gather themselves and get out there, that’s what it takes to help someone, and I’m sure the family is beyond grateful. On a different note because there are so many sharks in FL compared to elsewhere in the US, people might want to start wearing Shark Bandz 2 out in the ocean, I wear them a lot around the north east coast of FL. I’ve spent countless hours surfing around high shark count zones such as inlets and I’ve been fortunate enough to never have an attack, it’s supposed to lessen the likelihood of an attack by using a magnet to mess with their electro reception and gives off a magnetic field that will usually irritate them enough to not mess with you, other than that I wouldn’t go any deeper than waist deep and be out there with at least one other person, without one, after all it’s the sharks house, not ours.

Looked like an exhausted loon, which the bird experts said migrate between Mexico and Canada by swimming! Duck and dive. They are usually way offshore unless there no fish to eat.

Tourniquets are life savers, sharks have sensors so accurate they can see blood flow, that's why so many bites are to the thighs femoral artery, 400 million years of perfecting hunting oceans.

With all the cameras(phones) I expect to see more/more video of them but it's more than cameras catching more of them
swimming. There's more sharks meaning the entire "Food Chain" must be fairly strong to support the numbers we see now
which leads me to ask ; Are the regulations too strict on some species of sharks? Bull sharks are found in brackish & even
up in fresh waters of river systems. I still think that it's rarer to get hit by a shark than being hit by lightning, that said, it's
still a scary thought to get attacked by a mouth full of teeth you never see coming. peace & GB ALL

You say shark attacks in the Gulf are rare, well not on this day. When there are things in the water that can eat you, personally, I get a little nerverous being in that very water. Stories like this only confirm my fear.😮

My dad was in the Navy. We spent 5 years in Jacksonville Fl, 6 years in Key West, and 8 in Pensacola. I’ve spent my whole life along the ocean, one thing I’ve learned is don’t get in the water. Especially at a crowded beach, we become an easy target. May God Bless those who have been injured and affected.

Everyone is afraid of whites, then tigers. Not me; bulls are rhe most menacing sharks by far! I saw a "minimal" attack by a bull in Gulf Shores in '93, then another actual attack in '95. I've Never been back since. Bulls are the Worst sharks! The Worst! Don't vacation where they are common, FL or AL or MS. These are the worsy bull areas in the USA, but theyrte everywhere in the Southern US. I no longer go farther than ankle deep anywhere in the E or S USA ocean/gulf waters; it's simply not safe. They've found these savages as far inland as Lake MI!!! I abhor them!

Special reminder for people to have a general level of preparedness no matter where you go, including the beach. Have a first aid kit(a real, robust one...not just filled with some small bandages, but that has vital life saving tools in them) in the car, at the least. Not saying you necessarily need to carry an IFAK on your person all of the time, or carry tourniquets on your person(although some do, since there are ones you can easily and discreetly carry on your person) but the car is one of the most useful places to have one, you never know who you may save. That young girl is 100% only alive today because there were doctors/nurses on the beach who were PREPARED, and had tourniquets available to save the girls life. I dont know if they personally brought them, or someone else there provided the tourniquets to them, but whoever did is largely responsible for why that girl had the opportunity, and a fighting chance at survival. If youre bringing a bag/pack to the beach, theres no reason why you cant fit a first aid kit and tourniquets in there as well.
