Insta360 Ace Pro: Unveiling 2 Major Flaws!

It’s gonna take a lot for me to give up my GoPro 9.. as I’ve said before it’s got issues but way more positives than negatives..

Min focus distance is 15 inches, my video on mine is ridiculously clean. I just wish they would nail down the bluetooth mic firmware.

Let me tell you about another downside of this camera: when I do scuba diving with my Ace Pro, the photos are MUCH worse than even my GoPro 11. The color is way off, it’s blurry, a lot of the photos have some weird white lines all over them… it’s bad.

What camera are you using for your main video head shot?

by viewing others videos i was like sold to use the Ace Pro for Real Estate video Walk throughs but then you showed me how it responds to lights. so this is a no for me. thank you for poiinting this out

Thanks for your honest review. I have the Ace Pro and I love several of the new features (flip screen, low light, much better photos - 36MB in 16:9 ratio). However I have been disappointed in the Video quality in 4K. Im not interested in 8K, but I was expecting premium quality in 4K/30. When using H265 Codec, I found the video quality inferior many times, forcing me to revert to the old faithful H264. Also, the 'Lossless' x2 Zoom - isn't lossless. I found the video quality drops to something between 2.7K and 1080 FHD resolution. I understand the theory of a 8K sensor, cropping in double, to maintain 4K resolution, however I don't believe this when I compare the results. I would be very interested if others also found the same when using H265 and x2 zoom. Hope to hear back from other Users. Thanks.

Im planning to buy the ACE PRO but I still do have my ONE RS but the core broke😢 I want to film football videos like POV videos and to film badminton videos(non pov ones) I need some guiding about this if I should still save up for the ACE PRO or just buy the ONE RS core or other cams instead???

I came back to this great video youve made because I really wanted to ask you if you would suggest me to buy the DJI Osmo Action 4 to shoot my badminton games(not pov just like the camera in one place). Will I have any overheating issues even with stabilization off and not maxing out the fps and video quality?

Thank you, I do experience issues as well, especially storage errors on the app, despite my phone having ample space, also I put an ND filter, could have been the wrong one,(I used a polarized lens) I'm still learning, but the video footage was useless, all white .

I just got mine. I am having an issue with the LOW stabilisation mode. The shot jumps at the end of a movement. Really disappointed. And yes, the Rave Reviews, it seems were all just rubbish. Thanks for your video!

The current updates fixed a lot of this

I have the Insta360 ONE RS with both 4K Boost and 1-Inch Leica lens. With FlowState stability on, it always has a delay on the screen, how much delay depends on the setting you can choose yourself (low/mid/high). So that's nothing special actually. When doing action stuff, mount it on a car (me), motor/helmet, selfiestick during skiing, nobody cares about that delay. And for vlogging there are so many better options...
The bright light flares actually look terrible, that would be a dealbreaker to me. Have you made sure you cleaned the lens?

Which action camera should I buy. Insta 360 Ace Pro, Gopro 12 or DJI Osmo Action 4?

Pretty much every photographer knows that larger sensor and larger aperture means a narrower zone of focus. So Insta360 had to chose to either set the focus close and always have everything beyond about 10 - 12 feet out of focus (thus this camera would only be of use to vloggers), or set the focus back a bit to enable this breakthrough action camera to photo and video all the crazy shit we do in the real wide world. I would point out that for less than $40 one can get an adapter and a close-up lens that will let the Ace Pro focus close enough so that even the shortest armed Vlogger can be sharp as a tack. Plus the adapter allows for the use of other camera filters for even more effects. So the focusing is not at all a problem.

As for the "flares", it appears to me that you didn't take the protective film off the lens or perhaps need to clean the lens. Though super wide angle lenses are notorious for flares (I have some quite pricey ones for my main cameras that have flare issues), my Ace Pro seems to do quite well in controling them. I even occasionally use Star Filters to try to produce nice clean flares in my night shots (oslr to sometimes add a "twinkle" to eyes and a slight softness to the sharply focused Ace Pro for portraits.

Returning the Ace Pro is a good idea because it seems you are more into pro video, and the Sce Pro is merely an Action Camera.

Maybe you are paid by DJI to promote their camera. The issues you picked on are not really that big of a deal considering the several advantages and pros of insta360 Ace Pro over others. Every camera has its pros and cons and the DJI you purchased instead has its on drawbacks and cons so I don't find your review really critical. Plus its not hugely advertised as an 8K camera but does have the ability to do so. 8K is new technology so in the near future their technology is going to be much better to overcome the current issues.

In low light its highly advisable to use extra lights. noone would take videos or photos in low light with small cameras like this. maybe use a proper DSLR then.

Per utilizzare gyroflow servono i dati del giroscopio che con insa ace pro si ricavano dalla modalità freeframe che non stabilizza. Ho installato, come dice insta 360 ultima versione di gyroflow 1.5.4 ma appena importo il video della insta ace pro, dopo 1 secondo, si chiude immediatamente l'applicazione gyroflow.🙉🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Io che la uso col drone in fpv, ritengo gyroflow molto più performante della stabilizzazione di insta e pertanto ritengo questa cam INUTILIZZABILE per usi professionali.
Speriamo che tra insta e Gyroflow si risolve il problema.

Have you done an updated review using the newer firmware (assuming you still have the camera)? I can't comment on anything about the 8K issues since I've never used it but everything mentioned previously hasn't been an issue for me (I just bought the camera a few weeks ago and didn't use the camera until after I updated to the latest firmware).

I hate to point this out, but the Ace Pro is a toy. It’s not a GoPro killer. It’s a consumer facing toy camera. It’s shooting 8-bit. We all just need to stop looking at it like it’s going to replace a Canon C300 or a Sony ą9. It’s got 8K and better low-light performance than any other action camera so far. So what’s the fuss?

and i also noticed not only low light issue, but the 8k resolution is NOT actually 8k !!!
logically 8k should be more details at least 2 times than 4k, but when you notice it is just blurry as hell
