How to set up your Lenovo ThinkPad USB C with USB A Dock

Hi mate, my power button is lit up but its not turning on my laptop, its a thinkpad docking station but using a dell laptop should it still work?

I came across an older generation of this dock at a thrift store. It was missing the USB C cable. I imagine I can't use any random type-c. What should I look for when buying a new cable.

I have had my dock for at least a year. Only today did I learn how to plug everything in to use it. Smh. Thank you

Thanks for this. Do you know if there's anyway to turn off power delivery on this dock? I have a gaming laptop and the power delivered isn't enough to keep it going so having to use the power brick alongside the dock power.

While connecting the docking station to the computer it is always getting charged. Any method to stop charging when the dock is connected?

Hi, I'm admittedly clueless as to why you have a docking station. I have an Acer monitor (R240HY) and Thinkpad 15 gen 4. Want to have an extra screen. Is there one cord that would work for that? I have rewards at Lenovo so trying to figure out what accessory cord I could buy and it would work to make that connection. Thanks for any help!!

Why my dockingstation dont turn on my laptop?

I have a macbook pro at work, I have two monitors. I connect via the usb C to the correct port in the docking station. My issue is that I have to unplug the laptop sometimes to travel to different locations, When I come back to my desk I expect to be able to plug in my usb C to the laptop and it connect to my monitors and other equipment. However sometimes it won't recognize or wake up from the connection and I ultimately have to unplug the power and reconnect to get it to reset and take the connection again. I am confused if this is user error or if this is just a bug with Mac's. please anyone have any similiar issues and can help. thank you.

Will the USB3 adaptor to the power cord do screen sharing? I have an old (T490s) with a docking station and multiple screens and it's working fine since the cable from the docking to the laptop is one and the same (USB-C ports).
Now I have acquired a Lenovo Ip3 laptop and doesn't come up with a USB-C port. Which adaptor do I need to buy to connect the docking station to my new Lenovo IP3 laptop?

Thank you for the very informative video. My Lenovo Legion 5 has the USB C port at the back of the laptop. The power port is on the left side and is a yellow square identical to the one provided with the power supply brick. When using this docking station, can I use the USB C port on the back of the laptop or should I use the provided usb adapter and plug it in the side of the laptop? Thank you

The set up at my office works perfectly fine. Just connecting usbc to my thinkpad laptop charges and mirrors screen and everything else. The one I have at home is the same but doesnt charge the laptop which is super annoying..

umm I have the Lenovo Universal USB C dock setup per the guidelines, but the USB C cable between the back of the dock and the laptop itself doesnt power up the lapotp. Im having to use the charger that came with the laptop to power it up separately. The charger that came with the docking kit is a 90W charger, and the one with the laptop is a 135W charger. Is it that a 90W charger is incapable of powering up the docking station as well as the laptop on its own, and thats why I am having to use the 135W charger? What am I missing here?
