It would be reasonable to infer that the submarine imploded due to the heat being emitted from the submarine and the ice cold temperature from the sea. If the submarine successfully endured 10,000 below and 13,000 caused it to implode then it would mean that 3,000 feet deeper is even colder.

I don’t know if it’s an example pf implosion, but I always put a half-filled bottle of water in the freezer. At first it’s normal looking, but hours after the bottle seem to shrink, crumple, and dent. I thought this is implosion due to the reaction of the hot air inside the bottle with the cold air of the freezer, just that the pressure is not strong enough to burst the bottle.
