Uncharacteristic laughter, but typically conceptual. Wright takes Conan's half-hearted response to his "soup" metaphor and recasts it as one-upsmanship. He makes himself laugh, and then Conan feeds it. Afterwards we're left wondering if Conan really meant to be self-serving.
ОтветитьSteven is a genius, Conan is a buffoon.^^
ОтветитьI'm just catching up. I'm happy to just hear the regular crew, but my two favorite guests have been Steven Wright and Werner Herzog. The idea of sitting either of them down with Conan for a long talk - well, I would have said, "I dunno, man - are they remotely on the same wavelength?" Just brilliant and fun and sweet.
Ответитьmy brain is a pho
Ответить95% of me was so happy that Mr. Wright was laughing so hard. 5% of me was worried that this would end like the Joe Pesci scene in Goodfellas with Spider.
ОтветитьConan is such a master. When he’s got Bill Burr or Norm on he’s gotta play the straight guy who is asking the questions and keeping things on task and from totally going off the rails. Now here’s Steven Wright who is deep and seriously contemplative and Conan switches into the wild-card position his guests normally sit in. He knows the balance of how much structure vs chaos needs to be in a good dialogue and he’ll swing from side to side to keep the balance so his guests can just be themselves.
ОтветитьBest Steven joke ever!!!!! He said he had a brick wall in his place and he put brick wallpaper over it and friends would come to his place and he'd say to them "touch it, it feels real"!!!!!!! THE BEST!!!!
ОтветитьIt’s interesting how Steven talks about listening to comedy in bed on the radio on Sunday nights, that’s how I first heard his material and became a fan. There was a station in Hartford (105.9) that aired stand up comedy at 8 or 9 followed by the Grateful Dead hour and I’d listen to it in bed every Sunday night for a couple years
ОтветитьConan-as shown in the "soup" discussion-is one of the masters of theme embellishment,or riffing
Ответить❤
ОтветитьConan wastes minutes on a 29 sec bit, and the hirelings guffaw.
ОтветитьMaking Steven Wright laugh so hard must have been like a drug to Conan.
ОтветитьSteveb Wright dying is makin my sides hurt.
ОтветитьI love how Conan slips back into his Boston accent a little bit here and there on this interview with another Bostonian.
ОтветитьSteven Wright is a legend. Conan O'Brien is a legend. This interview is the funniest I have ever seen. More of this, please!!
ОтветитьI saw both of those appearances at the time.
He killed it.....and instantly became everyone's favorite comic.
This is the most Conan interview ever. And Steven's joyful raucous laughter in response is beautiful. The best roasting makes everyone look like a fool, and everyone is having a great time ❤❤❤
ОтветитьConan's accent came back while reminiscing about all the hockey players of his youth. It was brief but his subconscious took over. This amuses me!
ОтветитьAmazing. Steven boiled down the phenomena of Pod Casts and the "All about Me" culture into a few words and insane laugh. He's the Greatest.
ОтветитьI think the reason Steven didn't get back on Carson's show later was because he is so slow and difficult to interact with - he's not a go for quick, witty banter - although he is most definitely a genious with putting to gather words, incongruities, weird juxtapositions.
ОтветитьNothing makes me happier than seeing Steven Wright just cracking Uuup! Beautiful!
ОтветитьI failed Grade 12th. 🤧😢 I was busy working my English speech clarity and my body blood coordination.
ОтветитьIs Niel Degrasse tyson my dad?
ОтветитьWOAH! This is the MOST animated I have ever seen Steven Wright! Now I want to see Steven Wright and Jordan Schlansky hanging out together.
ОтветитьIt is absurb to think Conan's soup is better than Steven Wright's.
You can always tell a Harvard man, but you can't tell him much.
When George Carlin was starting out he was booked on the Jimmy Dean Show, he did his bit called "The Indian Sargent" they asked him back very quickly he didn't know if he could come up with another TV-ready set so quickly so told him to do the same bit, and he slayed them with the same set.
ОтветитьI think Steven is referring to the Kenny Mayer show from Boston in the 1970's (WBOS). First heard Woody Allen's "I shot a moose" there. Weird one way calls where he would talk to someone, but you couldn't hear them, just his side of the conversation.
ОтветитьSteven is one of the greatest laughers of all comedians
ОтветитьSteven Wright is exceptional in general, I especially love when he gets to shoot the ish with other comedians, you get those glimpses of two professionals in their field, knowing how the sausage is made, chuckling to each other on a meta level above the jokes themselves, like two Oz wizards winking at each other from behind the curtain. Conan and Craig Ferguson especially tickled those moments out of him.
ОтветитьThere is no better sound than hearing Steven Wright - the world's greatest professional stoic - bursting out it in laughter! 😂😂😂 Well done finding the dragon's underbelly Mr. O'Brien!
ОтветитьIf you could get Steven Wright laughing how could you stop... emotion is the primordial soup
ОтветитьConan's Brain is a chowder...but boston, so chowdah!
ОтветитьSteven sounds and has the hand gestures of the Macho Man just at one tenth the speed and volume
ОтветитьIt’s a real kick when a comedy talent makes another laugh.
Ответитьonly in steven wright's world is friday and NEXT thursday in the same week.
ОтветитьI didn’t even recognize him, he looks so different
ОтветитьI never imagined that would be Steven Wright's laugh. Love it.
ОтветитьSteven in stitches may be the only thing close enough to being as funny as his comedy 😆
ОтветитьThere is no way Steven Wright would have worn that hat on Conan were it not for the two parts of a snap.
ОтветитьConan O'Brien is a genius. Good luck Steven Wright funny guy.
ОтветитьSteven Wright is the consomme comedian
ОтветитьAm sure it's been commented before and will continue to be the case: "could listen to Conan and Steven for [post a quantifier] hours"
Ответить🇨🇦 Bobby Orr 🇨🇦
ОтветитьI've always enjoyed watching standup comics work and do what they do best... But, I've always enjoyed watching comedians making other comedians laugh! A regular person can laugh at a comic and say, they're processionals. That's what they do. But, when a comedian makes another comedian laugh, you know they're funny!
ОтветитьHeartwarming to see Steven laughing hysterically.
Ответитьyeah - i've never seen SW laugh this hard - makes me really happy 😀
ОтветитьStevens the best. My favorite. Wonderful twists and lateral thinking. Thank you
ОтветитьEd Sheeran sucks.
ОтветитьOww my ribs
