Would you go to Mars without having tried to land a starship at an unprepared rocky underground? Hoping that the rocks that come loose don't damage your engines. I guaranty as long they haven't tried this on earth they will not go to Mars and second it will not work. Landing at a natural flat plane is a risk to damage the engines.

Musk has said it's incredibly hard to get out of Earth's gravity well, hence the enormous thrust required. He said it'll be a lot easier on the Moon and Mars, and won't need all this infrastructure...?

What an exciting time for the development of space exploration!
It is like after the moon landings, "well, I guess we are done here".
Of course the development of computer technology since 50 years ago is fantastic, and greatly enhances the value of "space enterprises".
And, yes, glad SpaceX is "Made in America".

I'm thinking SpaceX needs to move a little faster to go to Mars and the reason is China is making good progress to the Moon 🌙 who's to say they try to go to Mars before SpaceX.

funny, the way people try to change the main subject. For many years there is little to no importance to a booster or launch pad, it’s the science or payload of the mission that’s important. The real issue to me is the lack of scientific focus.
The booster recovery is a secondary economic subject. Important yes, top of the list no. You can’t use the recovered booster anyway without significant refurbishing. Ask for a picture or cost of the recovered equipment and how much is usable. In the meantime no one asked about the payload progress. 😂

SpaceX needs to change the materials of the exposed parts of the tower from steel. They need to put a set of over plates made of say tungsten.

Shocked? At what? The cost of the litter scattered acrossed two oceans? And for what? What have we gained out of the "starship" launches that wasn't previously being accomplished. Maybe, someday, starship wil be a useful launch platform, but will it beat Tesla's FSD to usefullness? Problably, but right now it is an overweight under producing waste, all at taxpayer's expense. Shill much?

I have pointed out repeatably in the past that SpaceX made a mistake by not using an exhaust deflection chamber, multiple launches will attrite the launch platform on an ongoing basis and ongoing maintenance will create delays and extra costs.

The Biden administration is doing everything to promote the Chinese communist agenda, to make America last, to give the lead to China in every front, including science and space exploration.
Landing the starship on the ocean is a gift to China. The Indian navy reported that the Chinese submarines have already started salvaging operations to take the Starship out of the ocean.
Biden is trying to start WW3, so that he can declare martial law and stop the election and prevent trump from taking office.

Will they allow the booster to return to the launch pad, doubtfully maybe the ship but booster may be better to bring it down on a raft in the ocean. Just an opinion, Slainte ❤️ 🎉
