That background exercise is killing me lmao
ОтветитьAre you using your false folds for the fry AND compression or just compression? I feel different things working between both.
ОтветитьChris I cannot overstate how useful this video has been for me. I'm always in a dark room - bar cellar/basement before every show and it's stopped my voice becoming exhausted and is much more powerful and clearer. Thank you so much.
ОтветитьI’m working still on not caring what my neighbors think when i’m making these noises. When they start slamming doors downstairs I can’t help but wonder if it’s passive aggressive shut the heck up door slamming. I imagine its similar to your neighbor learning the trumpet or violin. 😅
I’ve noticed the times I have just messed around like this then tried to sing something I was way better, you can really works kinks out and feel where your tension is. It’s really really really helpful, very good advice.
Hey chris i use this video so much i thank you so much iv also added using an auto tune plugin to tune my voice while i do this i look at the plugin rader thing and it tells me where to align my voice to hit the desired note 🎵 i wanted to tell you to give that a try one day if you see this i once again thank you 🙏🏽
ОтветитьI’ve been doing traditional warm ups for 8 months now and I’ve seen An improvement but not as much as I’ve expected. So I’m relieved to hear this, cuz I felt this way but didn’t hear anyone talk about what I felt. Thanks for thinking outside the box!
ОтветитьI love your style
ОтветитьYesterday this fixed my hoarse voice today it made it hoarse but fun 😂
ОтветитьDo you teach screaming?
ОтветитьThis guy is the best teacher I have ever seen 👏👏
ОтветитьI’m thinking about doing this, but I’m not sure if I should? It’s very different from the traditional way
ОтветитьThank you for sharing your insights Chris. This acknowledges my personal thoughts on warming up. Im used to warming up the classic way but I always feel like my body takes more time to wake up when practicing through scales. It’s like I’m forcing myself when producing counterintuitive sounds. I prefer warming up by following where my body leads me. It also makes warming up much more fun. As a female vocalist I practice intentional vocal workouts on a daily basis (2 rest days). So good warmup and cool down is essential. Now that I know the intuitive warming up is ok, Im going to use it more.
ОтветитьScale warm ups to enable smooth transitions between head and chest voice. Pasagio.
ОтветитьI keep coming back to this video before a gig.
It's a great cure for all my Impostor Syndrome-symptoms... felt it creeping through the last few days, my thraot blocking out and doubting myself every step of the way...
I can cope again now.
So thanks again...and again!
this is literal gold because it actually helped me yesterday and just now too, my voice even grew a bit more on the range.
ОтветитьEspecially in this video your voice reminds me Devin Townsend
ОтветитьDo you actively strive for voice fry sans tension in this warmup, or is it you actively "pushing the envelope"? You keep saying "no tension" but the frys sound tention-filled. Have I just not found a video by you explaining this in further depth?
ОтветитьThanks this is awesome. The normal vocal warm ups feel so restrictive after watching this haha
ОтветитьThis is an amazing, unique way to warm up that I'm going to incorporate. Thank you!
As a fellow baritone, I find that my voice will sometimes get tired after my warmup, then after a short rest of not singing at all, it will "come back" and be stronger. Is this normal?
Very good examples of how to look for natural voice.
ОтветитьHello Chris, I have been trying to follow this warmup but it seems like you already need to know how to sing to do this :(
What can I do if I have absolutely zero vocal training?
Best video I’ve ever seen. Thank you
ОтветитьWhat do you do when you can’t engage your lower fry?
ОтветитьI’ve followed along to this video every day for a few weeks and I’m singing so much better than I ever have. Thanks Chris!
ОтветитьHis warm up sounds the same as I sing, though slightly more in tune than me. 😂 (although laughing not actually joking)
ОтветитьSo happy I discovered your channel! I actually feel happy Im a newbie to singing and glad I haven't gone the traditional way of learning scales ..couldn't do them anyways it's way too boring!
By listening to your videos I've realised I've actually learned to hit notes really well and play around with tone and colour. Because I've been doing what you recommend. Just listening to myself and playing around with it
It isn't enough though. Can hit the notes and make them sound nice but I can't hold them. Voice wavers perceptibly!
So yes...I will sign up for your free course, could be the missing piece in my jigsaw and adore your approach!
Thanks so much 🙏
I like your warm ups yet I find a contradiction. You said during your your warm up you were not pushing; you were very lose and free with your voice and just using pure head resonance. Then you did an overlap short clip talking about the warm up that's when you said " the only thing that feels any tension of feels over worked at all is my abs; my abdominal muscles. But you said that you were not pushing at all, pure head resonance. See my point? Could you elaborate on that please for clarification.
Good videos over all; interesting stuff.
Cheers!
This warmup sounds like Devin Townsend might be watching going "Should I sue? Or steal?" It legit just sounds like some of his more experimental stuff 😂
ОтветитьThanks Chris. I just tried this warm up, which was a lot of fun, and then I sang a song I was struggling with and it was literally night and day. It was a break thru for me for sure. I just started your 12 week course too and week 3's content can't come fast enough! Keep up the posts. Really appreciating them!
ОтветитьMan, I've been singing with tension all the time, 'cause I felt like I had to, my vocal coach didn't really catch it but I was like so sure I tense my throat everytime I open my mouth.
I've tried thousand of other videos, exercises, and shit and literally nothing helped, I've got so frustrated that I wanted to quit, 'cause it was causing me so much pain.
Just thanks.

ОтветитьI've been using your vocal warm up for about every day for the past almost 2 years now and I've been paying attention to all the tips and tricks that you give forth and it is made me a better singer.
ОтветитьThis is great. Thank you!
ОтветитьThis video has become in my daily vocal warm up routine and I just follow along, with the best outcome for my voice
ОтветитьI am a soprano, and this methodology that you use is complicated. You use your voice as a frequency or something like that, different from vocal exercises. However, it is very interesting to learn something new. Thanks for the tutorial!🙏🙏
ОтветитьI'm starting to think he feels the wind blow
ОтветитьI use this almost every day since I saw it over a year ago and It really has helped me get comfortable with letting my voice warm up rather than making it do things. Thanks for this daily routine. I generally just do it when driving back from the gym in the AM. Thanks
ОтветитьI do 20 burpees.
ОтветитьSirens do so much for a singer. Head first!
ОтветитьHoly crap! I'm hearing and feeling things in my voice that I haven't encountered before! I've only been learning to sing for a few months and I'm soooo glad I found this early in my singing journey!!!! This is CRAZY good and definitely connects to me way way way more than "traditional" warmups
ОтветитьWhen he turned the C note on it lowkey sounded like deftones
ОтветитьWhere can I find that background tone?
ОтветитьI would SO have to do this OUT in my car because if I did this in my house, the dogs would think that there was something seriously wrong with me. Let alone, my wife! With all of those sirens going on I thought you were going to break out into the theme song: BAD BOYS BAD BOYS! WHATCHA GONNA DO? WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THEY COME FOR YOU!
Ответитьto sinG is to knoW yourselF. Thankyou !!!!
ОтветитьChris, this hit differently. My name is Jon Parri. I'm a husband, father, administrator ('The Interventionist'), and a singer/thespian currently pursuing a Ph.D. But I lost my voice due to illness, and I'm on a journey back. Your video on the 'floppy' approach and just feeling the sound felt like permission to be okay with where I am right now. Last night, I didn't try to perform; I just made sounds, and it was incredibly freeing. It reminded me that our voices are gifts, and finding them again is powerful work. Thank you for this – it’s fuel for my 'Empowering Journey' (eBook) and my mission to help others find theirs.
Ответитьthis is so relaxing omg
ОтветитьI can only do those initial slides without a break if I'm using mix.
Ответить
