iPhone 16 Pro. A phone photographer's HAND ON perspective

Currently use 14PM - waiting for 16PM to arrive

Preordered the 16pro. Got it yesterday and shot big dipper handheld 3second shot and it turned out way better than expected. Can’t wait for tonight to test it on a tripod.

Iphone 15ProMax. Will not upgrade to 16

Picked up a 15PM first part of June. Kinda wish we’d waited for the 16s to drop as they’re the “S” cycle phone. Meaning they’re the improved 15.

14 pro max, not intending to upgrade

Have a 14 pro max. Ordered a 16 pro max through T-Mobile. Still waiting for arrival.

Great to listen in to your combined thoughts of the 16 this morning. Many thanks for your comments about the Audio Mix facility. It's all the more surprising that so few reviewers even mention it! I'll probably order my 16pm next month after some of the dust has settled wrt to its reliabililty. From what you've said, for my use, I can probably leave my wireless mic behind!

One of the things I'm looking forward to is a cooler running phone. While I've not had overheating problems on my iPhone 12pm until recently, it's become extremely problematic when using it with my Insta360 Flow gimbal. So much so, that it's not worth using the gimbal at all since it overheats the phone after 60 seconds. I rather assume it's a problem related to the iOS s/w but it's still there with iOS18. I've followed every possible recommendation to affect a cure including a Reset All Settings, but it's hardly made any difference. Doing a separate trial on a non-gimbal tripod, I've had no overheating issue even after filming for 30 minutes. Perhaps Insta360 will come up with a s/w update which will sort out the issue, but nothing they've suggested so far has helped. Such a pity as I've loved the gimbal until just now.

I currently have a 12Pro and trying to decide if I should upgrade or wait for the 17. Also trying to decide between Pro or ProMax.

Re the camera control, personally I feel swiping to the right should zoom in, not out as it does… Just me? Okay lol
