why did the batman skit feel like an old sanity not included one

I remember in one of the Arkham games, one of the goons theorized that Batman had to work for the government and was just posing as a vigilante to cover their asses. It actually makes sense: ordinarily even a Billionaire would have a hard time getting the kind of military-grade equipment Batman uses all the time.

To be fair on the Batman point, in the canon Bruce Wayne does a really good job of making people believe he's an irresponsible billionaire playboy. It'd be like if a batman-style hero started breaking up massive criminal gangs in Texas and someone said 'dude it's gotta be Elon Musk'. It'd be a ridiculous notion.
