Finding Prehistoric Artifacts Near Ancient Lakes

10,000 years ago this area of what is now the Great Basin Desert was not dry as it is now, the climate was cooler and there was an abundance of lakes/wetlands.
Another important resource found in this area is the abundance of obsidian. Obsidian was a very important material in prehistoric times, for tool making, actually...important all the way back to the Paleo Archaic times. So this area would have been occupied for thousands of years due to the resources.
Even when the lakes/wetlands dried out and cultures moved on, other cultures would have found and utilized this area specifically for the obsidian.
As I search these hills along the edge of an ancient lake I may very well come across artifacts that date back thousands of years!
