I'll never understand what the goalie was doing.

Nice, but the announcers are over the top with love for this play. Ovechkin didn't plan this. He was falling and did what any other player would try to do. Nothing too special here. It's like when a goalie makes a save and they call it an absolutely stunning save when all he is doing is trying to make the best of a bad situation and he gets lucky and the puck hits his pad or stick. A great play would be something that he orchestrated from start to finish. I know. I play goal. My idea of a great save is reading the forward, following his moves and making him make the first move and then stacking the pads to the side that he goes to and stopping the puck. That's a great save. But my teammates think a great save is when there's a scramble out in front and I'm down, after making a save and the defense is running around and a shot comes out of nowhere, and I just reach out my arm and it happens to hit my arm and they call that a great save. I don't.

It's not that he just scored the most amazing goal, he gets right back on his feet and celebrates!
