New WC Hayes 0333 Mechanical Bell, with new style logo.

Oh that bell is so beautiful sounding. Interesting that they're set slow from the factory now (just like the E-bells); it makes the bell sound more like a drawbridge. Very cool!

I wonder why the tag on the door has a date of 6-13-2003 if it was made recently?

The quality of these bells has gone down the drain. Lots of plastic, the contacts are apparently bent by the factory, and the cheaply made hammer tends to get bent backwards by the force of gong strikes. No wonder GS is the leading brand of bells nowadays. They have bells from the early 90s still in service.

Good score Michael. Sounds very healthy as well. :) I'll have to save up and order one from WC Hayes myself too. I sure hope ARTC one day will order new M-bells to replace any dying E-bells in the future.

Hi! Nice bell. You're very knowledgeable when it comes to railways, do you know if there are any working semaphore signals on the mainlines, other than the ones at Bomaderry?
Another question (sorry), do you know why the teardrop bell (my favorite one) was slowed down at Benalla? If you look at your videos, and then compare them to recent ones, such as Jaspers Transport Videos, it seems to have been slowed down.

V/Line should probably buy WCH’s mechanical bells and electronic bells sometime soon, but I don’t think it would happen ‘cause they love Siemens / Safetran type 3 E bells rather than WCH.

But to my opinion, they can’t keep buying Safetran Type 3 E bells forever. But anyways… 🤷🏻‍♂️
