is it normal that the first 7 seconds of each Majuular videos are just pure peak ?
ОтветитьPatterson looks like Littlefinger. Or Littlefinger looks like Patterson. Whichever came first.
Ответитьyou da man majuular
ОтветитьExcellent video on one of my favorite games.
Turns out you don't need to save the fraznium gauntlets in order to enter the mage vault. You can find a fraznium circlet in one of the bedrooms along with a note mentioning the vault. Wearing any fraznium equipment allows you to pass through the force field.
I'd be so interested to hear your thoughts on Arena & Daggerfall in their own videos
ОтветитьI love UW2, and this was my favourite of the two underworld games. I played it as a child and always got stuck, but I did eventually get somewhere and completed it as a 12 year old! I loved the enchant spell and repair spell. It did trivialise combat, but it did also allow me to defeat that awful dire reaper down in the pits of carnage (wish we had more than one of them in the game)!
ОтветитьTry the same open spell trick from the end of the video on Nystels chest in the library. You'll find a surprising book. What a dirty old man!
ОтветитьWhat's a paladin?
I have to go.
I can't believe they made this in 9 months. It's just astounding. I'm so glad you reviewed this. I have great memories of playing this when it came out.
ОтветитьDamn good video. Thank you for a such treat, my go-to "the ultima guy". I really love your videos, thanks!
...Also now i cant for some reasons unsee that most of human's walk cycle in Underworld II were drawn and animated to look kinda like virgin from the memes. Slumped shoulders, awkward hands, wonky early 3d engine stuff...
Audibly shouted "fucking hell" when I heard the non-adjusted MSRP for this and Ultima VII
ОтветитьThe best retrospective videos on the internet! Thank you, my bearded friend, for your dulcet tones, impeccable taste and fantastic sense of humor.
ОтветитьI’ve never played an Ultima game, or King’s Field, but I have watched all the videos about them on this channel. They continue to be fun and entertaining to watch. You and Grim Beard have a similar upload schedule, which I think is kind of funny since you’re both very different but cover similar things.
ОтветитьRegarding the eyeballs, could it perhaps be a blüe Oyster Cult reference to the song "Harvester of Eyes"? It's not as far fetched as it might sound, many programmers are fans of BOC, and an RPG from 1987 that shares a LOT of similarities to Underworld II, Alternate Reality: The Dungeon has a hidden BOC themed chamber in which you can find a strong weapon, the Blue Pearl Dagger (made of blue oyster shell) with "Don't Fear the Reaper" enscribed on it so a Harvester of Eyes reference is possible, the guy was "harvesting eyes" after all!
ОтветитьUnderworld Ascendant next? ;)
ОтветитьThis is the end of the good times for this series
ОтветитьFantastic video ! Your series is really a must watch for any PC RPG fan or anyone curious about the history of one of the most influential series of games ever made.
ОтветитьWhat I loved most about this game was the background/lore of the Guardian, the various ways that he conquers/controls/crushes worlds/peoples/civilizations, who he recruits to be his minibosses and underlings, and who has opposed him from Bishop to Praecor Loth. In some ways learning about the Guardian's various conquests was more fascinating than playing the game.
I despised the retcon explanation in U9 that the Guardian was the Avatar's anthropocentric anti-virtues. It makes the whole saga feel small and contrived, and it whisks away all the fascinating lore of UW2. If the Guardian's existence is all because of the Avatar, what was the point of conquering all these other worlds then? What a stupid game.
My friend...God bless your content.
ОтветитьAh, Ultima Underwordl 2. The epitome of two steps forward, one step WAY the hell back.
ОтветитьLol'd at the npc who looks like majuular
ОтветитьI dont really like to compare your reviews to Spoony's reviews because I love them both- but holy shit this one is so far and beyond Spoony's Underworld 2 review it's not even funny
To be fair he kinda just did the intro there..
I don't know if it says anything about this game, but I thought I had never finished this game yet kept going "oh yeah that part" as the series of events was explained with the areas all the way to the end. I guess the first game's mood and levels add together to a more memorable package despite the gameplay improvements in the second. I did remember the ice cave very well though.
Honestly it's kinda nuts to me that UU2 plays so well, only for System Shock 1 to be nigh unplayable today.
What's a Paladin? A silly question, you spoony Majuular. EVERYONE KNOWS ALREADY
ОтветитьWould you consider doing a System shock video?
ОтветитьLord British is just a big Bloodborne fan, that's all.
ОтветитьThese retrospectives truly show how far game developer quality has diminished.
ОтветитьMan, as someone who played hours and hours of Underworld 1 at 16 listening to Metallica many many years ago, I appreciate you covering these. I have such a fondness for Looking Glass that I knew a lot of the history but you definitely have some great behind the scenes / additional information I had never heard before! Really excellent job with both. I remember playing UW2 maybe 10 years later and while I loved having more Underworld content, it definitely wasn't the same vibes for sure.
Now, do I crack UW1 open again or just go for some Arx Fatalis? 🤔
Early 20's: over-watching Spoony Ultima retrospectives
Late 30's: over-watching Majuular Ultima retrospectives
Instead of the Avatar just getting out of shape from slacking off, they could have said that the blackrock dome cast a spell when it formed that sapped the avatars strength and teleported all his gear away…or something. And maybe explain that only the avatar could travel below the castle, to wave away why all his friends were too lazy to help him out and just sat around the castle.
ОтветитьActually I'm not totally sure what a paladin is. Can someone explain it to me?
ОтветитьMajuular making an Ultima video is a recession indicator
ОтветитьThibris is an anagram of british, so maybe bizarro british just shares his love of eyeballs?
ОтветитьFuck yeah, more Ultima!! 😎
ОтветитьI love these videos but it would be cool if you made some JRPG videos again! <3
ОтветитьLove the King's Field music. Such a great soundtrack.
ОтветитьYour intro music fires dopamine nukes in my mind
ОтветитьOh elster's story :(
ОтветитьSure, I watched this video last night before I went to sleep. But why not watch it again while I go to sleep?
How do you make essentially white noise to fall asleep to, but also a deep dive into a game I've never played with in depth exploration of its cultural significance?
One of the last good Ultima games before it all fell apart. Enjoy it while you can. And I think during the character creation you meant to say you pick your sex not gender. Gender is a nonsense term with no real basis in reality. There is only sex, nothing else.

ОтветитьThis series has gotten me so far into the game Foundry because I love hearing Majuular talk about ultima for literal hours while I play automation games. Shout out to the Ultima 4 video, was super interesting building giant machines while hearing you break down the virtues.
