I have a MiSTer! Let's try out a Super Nintendo game. Today we play 'E.V.O.: Search for Eden', a unique evolution RPG, where you start playing as a fish in the ancient ocean before life took to land, and you evolve and change.

This game shares a lot of DNA (see what I did there) with Maxis' 'Spore' from 2008, another game where you get to decide how lifeforms evolve. For games that are supposedly about evolution and natural selection, neither E.V.O. or Spore actually show this process. Both feature the player as a Creator that decides how lifeforms evolve. Not very scientific, but playing God in a video game *is* very fun.

The MiSTer is a FPGA-based open source emulation system that emulates a large variety of computers, consoles and arcade games from the 1990s and older.
