Mason is later seen fighting another inmate in a labor camp in Vorkuta, Soviet Union. Mason, who was imprisoned here by Dragovich, plans to escape from Vorkuta with Viktor Reznov, who is also seen in the game Call of Duty: World at War. They escalate the fight and start a riot, killing the guards and soldiers they encounter. While Reznov and Mason are trying to escape from the soldiers, Reznov sacrifices himself and when Mason jumps onto the train they will use to escape, Reznov drives away to attract the soldiers following him.

In Vorkuta, Alex Mason's brain was washed with some encrypted numbers within a program called MK Ultra, and only a few people in the world, including Mason, knew the meaning of these numbers. Additionally, Mason's brain was programmed to kill John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the then US president.
