Doug said it in other words. these channels are the closest we can get to hearing the music again for the first time.
ОтветитьThis was great! May I request a collaboration video of the 2 of you reacting to Prelude 12/Suite Madame Blue by Styx. It's a masterpiece of a long, prog-rock composition, with the 12-string guitar intro, symphonic and heavy metal sections, a 4-part, staggered vocal harmony section, and a rousing big climax.
ОтветитьI’m going to listen to Close to the Edge prompto!!
ОтветитьWonderful conversation. I'm not a big participant in either of your communities (and a bit envious of those who are) -- but been following and enjoying both of your channels for a long time. As soon as I saw the two of you were having a discussion I knew it would be good!
ОтветитьCharismatic Voice next
ОтветитьDamn! what a great combination!!
ОтветитьTwo of my fave music reactorers together in a collab!
Thanks guys.
I know sweet Fanny Adams about music except wot I like! lol
But it's so good to see a critique rather than just someone listening to a record lol
Listened to "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" the other day.
Decided I really don't like it.
Will have to watch Amy's video to understand why I dislike the orchestration.
It feels to obviously sentimental to me.
So Doug is legit..... Is she legit?... A real virgin?
ОтветитьThank you both for getting together like this. I watch both of you. Did you notice Thick As A Brick on the shelf behind Doug? I'd like to see a little Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver, Spirit, and Procol Harum deeper cuts. Probably other too but those off the top of my head.
ОтветитьGreat hearing you two talk. I watch both of your reactions, and it's extra interesting to hear you talk with one another.
ОтветитьThanks for doing this. It's a very enjoyable chat from the two channels I follow.
ОтветитьI was fortune enough to have been born in Wales. The arts, music in particular is very much in our blood. I sang in choirs whilst in school, having taken part in Massed male choirs. I was not happy when my voice broke. Knowing this about yourself (Doug) Adds that little "something". Love your channel. oops. Regarding the harp. Born in Wales? the harp is our national musical instrument
ОтветитьAmy and Doug sharing a video! Wow!
ОтветитьPerfect video........ Only negative point was, no music backstage.
From a Brazilian music fan, I can say that you both in a different way "invade" my house weekly. And I love it !!!!!!!
Knowing more from you two was realy a plus with bonus.
Maybe you can show us 1 classical piece per month. Than we can learn more from your passion music.
Thanks for you and your families
I follow both of you, and it´s a very pleasure to see you togheter. God bless you!
ОтветитьI used to turn it up full and put my ears close to the speakers.
ОтветитьI like them both.
Even though I am familiar with the analyzed works, I learned a lot from both.
Amy's reactions are like a painting. Doug's reactions are like an x-ray. You need both! Both of them are good! Both are valuable.
I also vote for progressive rock, including King Crimson.
It's been 60 years of dumping hits. Hit music is enjoyable, hit music instantly cheers you up, hit music easily gives you a little boost. A new realization (as of 2018) is that easy pleasures, including hit music, provide a lot of short-term pluses, which are fleeting. Newer, better, more of them are needed. But I always push a little lower! It leads to depression over the years. Like drugs. This effect is permanent! (This - with him, the real drug - also destroyed Sid Barrett). This is the origin of today's mental problems: the comforts and pleasures of consumer society.
Progressive rock is a difficult pleasure. You have to get used to it, you have to learn. There is beauty in it, and it is also terrible and terrifying. This is what the masters of prog-rock did for us in the background. Pink Floyd, ELP and many others. The greatest master of this is King Crimson. Robert Fripp - regular member - has shown us time and time again the horror-filled delight. Such pleasure is permanent! It doesn't take you down to the depths, only for a short time, and then lifts you even higher. Such e.g. by Echoes (PF), or Starless by King Crimson. It's worth starting with one of their not-so-old works: Frakctured (The Construction of Light - 2000 album). At first - to many - it seems terrible, with strange, atonal harmonies and vitruose runs. But it is such a valuable piece that others have already made arrangements of it, for strings. The King Crimson oeuvre is filled with such gems.
Music is the conduit and for me, bees in a box is a conduit in life.
ОтветитьI use Firth of Fith whenever testing speakers. Those bass pedals (I think that's what they are) during the guitar solo can overwhelm poor speakers, even subwoofers.
ОтветитьCharismatic Voice next? Legit opera singer who also does this 👍🏼
ОтветитьBrilliant video! I really enjoyed it!
ОтветитьDoug! We love Doug!
ОтветитьI wonder what you two think of the younger girl genius classic composer , who creates complex & complete all original music? I can’t think of her name right now. She is world famous and is more amazing than Mozart or anyone that has been.
ОтветитьThat was werry interesting to listen to.😊
ОтветитьI can tell, I have learn to listen and understand music much more since I began to listen to you two.
And it's fun to revisit old music and listen to it with fresh ears. Thank's
You two should do a podcast!
ОтветитьThis conversation was a great idea. You both should do more videos like this. Kudos.
ОтветитьI understand it is a German thing to say what you are thinking but in an international setting it is considered rude to discuss how you questioned if Doug is really a composer and later giving him the "legit" stamp of approval.
As you communicate with people from outside of Germany, it is important to consider cultural differences to avoid offending people.
I can't speak for Doug but if someone was questioning my legitemacy, i would be offended and certainly not want to have a conversation with that person.
Doug: choral music?! OK! Lux Arumque on your channel? and those amazing Natums at the end. How did Whitacre make those moments?
ОтветитьAww, I like Doug and his analyses. Great to see him here.
ОтветитьThe most ancient being known to have an harp? APOLLO...
ОтветитьI loved choir in middle school, but the voice changing at the onset of puberty could be pretty traumatic! Doug, how was your 'maturation' experience?
ОтветитьYou guys both do a fantastic job on your reviews.....I have always loved music....and your insights have provided so much depth and newfound fascination into the songs I have heard but never really LISTENED to !! ...Thank You Both !!
ОтветитьFascinating, cheers ❤️
ОтветитьAmy seems a bit tongue-tied. She takes each question so seriously and answers them with substance and value.
ОтветитьI just love the reaction community. What a precious island of wholesomeness in the dreary ocean of Internet nonsense. Thank you both, for doing what you do <3
ОтветитьAww, so lovely conversation! I've always imagined both meeting up for such a thing, because they're pretty much the best on the subject! Looking forward to seeing them together again.
ОтветитьA true metaversal summit!
Ответитьi am so happy for this meeting/ I am 70, my son is 39 and we both enjoy your reactions and variety of musical choices.
Ответитьzappa's live performance of watermelon in easter hay should be reacted to beyyou both. zappa is not new to either of you, but that song is his masterpiece. . keep up the good work
ОтветитьI personally like that both Amy and Doug did this video as it gives a backstory of their experiences
ОтветитьCongrats to both of you! I hope you'll one day explore the music of Tori Amos
ОтветитьI am subscribed to both channels and i am glad you guys finally get to knwo each other.
ОтветитьThanks to Amy for chatting with me!!
