The Sri Lankan government has taken money from China and we are in a huge debt at the moment. The Sri Lankan government is selling the country's property to other countries day by day. As a result, about 50% of the people are helpless due to this. I am not happy about this but sad. After all, we can not even enter Port City as Sri Lankans. We all want the country to prosper.But what they are saying is that the rulers are stealing billions from such businesses. Therefore, the life of the people is becoming more difficult day by day.

My unbiased comment (I don't take sides; nor I am justifying anyone's action):

India only helped Tamil militants to fight against Sri Lanka. In 1980s, all the Tamil militant groups (LTTE, EROS, ... so many that I can't even remember the names) had offices in Chennai. Personally I have seen lot of Tamil militants. At that time I was a young school boy. So, I could only watch them.

Now coming to the point...

India was never trustworthy for Sri Lanka. So, Sri Lanka had to go with China.

(Like I said earlier, I am not saying India is wrong or Sri Lanka is right, etc.

I am just saying what happened.

I am also not saying that Tamils were treated well by Sinhalese government.

The issue is so complicated that it resulted in China entering Sri Lanka with official blessings of Sri Lankan govt.

More land for China but not for the people that live there

Sri Lanka will soon be the Venezuela of South Asia. A corrupt, poverty stricken banana republic that caters to a super rich minority.

As a Chinese , I look down how Indians act to this project .

China is a fast growing economy country , there are more than 10 similar projects are operational in China . In my city Dalian , there is a biggest sea airport of China in under construction .
China is not interesting of taking other land , No need to , the economy growth is benefit for all of us . We know how important of infrastructure is , when we were poor , our govt invested huge amount of money into infrastructure . Even though , these projects wont get benefit in the next 20 years , Nobody in the world would gave loan to desert road , mount road , sea bridge. Our govt has long version to do it 30 years ago , we could see how this project plaid important role today . How this projects lead business , economy growth from Sichuang ,Chongqing ,Guizhou , where surround by 100km big mountains. The capital city of Sichuan ,Chengdu is becoming the biggest laptop , electronic production base in the world .

Without transportation and infrastructure , Nothing will happens . Colonize sounds stupid to me , without infrastructure and people , you will lose all money . we are hard working people , the future is in our own hands. When the city raise up to a super economy hub , The benefit will forward to all people who live in this city.

This is not a loan man. It's an investment. the construction was done by them and they keep a percentage of the land for them. Rest would be hand to the goverment.

I really don't like the idea of building skyrise on reclaimed land due to reclaimed land often being prone to sinking, but the financial district looks to be close to existing land. anyone know how future safe this development is? also what will happen when sea levels rise or if a tsunami hit.
