nice to see your new video today after I just woke up from my heart surgery few days ago in last year. Hope we all can have a better 2025.
ОтветитьGreat improvement of audio/narration, editing and pace.
ОтветитьYou should send this vid to the minister of transport (Australian of course)
ОтветитьYou make it look not easy, but
ОтветитьDone this trip loved it . 10000% recomend going to the train museum such fun great if you have kids also as its next to lego land
ОтветитьSorry to Interrupt. Please Turn off the auto dubbing feature. I hope you can get that sorted oh and also Happy New Year. This is a Very interesting Video. I always want to visit Japan.
ОтветитьAnother fine review Adam. You certainly need your wits about you down in the depths of Tokyo. Happy New Year & I look forward to more of your "Pearls of Wisdom" in 2025 x
Ответить5⭐Video
ОтветитьGreat video. Last November i took a ltd express from Tomakomai to connect with the Hokkaido Shinkansen, which has Gran class onboard, epic trip . They add another set to the Train at Sendai. Im amazed at how close they run together at hi speed.
ОтветитьTokyo train station looks like a maze of platforms
Ответитьgreat video ❤❤😍😍
ОтветитьKeep it up Adam. If you run low on ideas redo older stuff with a slight twist. We will watch it. Thanks for all your efforts.
ОтветитьVery informative, Adam. Thanks, mate…👍
ОтветитьI've only ridden on the ICE, AVE, and TGV. Japan is on my bucket list. 😊
ОтветитьDoes a Japan green pass cover this train?
ОтветитьDo they serve beer on the train with green pass?
ОтветитьI've just booked my solo trip to japan . Did you use google Maps for the trains and platform? If so, how did u find it ? Looks daunting lol
ОтветитьExcellent as usual . I have been to Japan 4 times and never got to travel on a Shinkansen , idiot ! Always was so keen to hit the slopes in Hokkaido , which is the best skiing I have ever had and have skied a lot . Spent a bit of time in Tokyo and the subways there are fantastic and so easy to use . The first time I went down the stairs at Shinjuku station I thought I may never find my way out again but it's all so organized and easy . Love Japan and what about the food !!!
Ответитьvery kool happy new years
ОтветитьBrilliant video, I’m so happy I found your channel I’ve liked and subscribed and really looking forward to catching up on past videos
ОтветитьI traveled from Tokyo to Nagoya on the shinkansen when i went to japan and it was defiantly an experience
ОтветитьLoved the video Adam. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and your new year got off to a good start.
BTW, you on Bluesky?
I travelled on the Shinkansen in the 70s, between Tokyo and Kyoto. It was a great experience.
We enjoyed trolly service with the bento boxes. Luckily we saw Mount Fuji too.
Japan is so different, clean and well organised. Luckily we had a Japanese friend with us at the time so that was a plus when travelling.
In Green Cars, you need to be polite when resting your feet on the footrest.
The footrest has a front and back, and you need to take off your shoes on the moquette side.
If you want to keep your shoes on, use the opposite side, which has no moquette.
This is an absolute rule.
Because, you know, if you unknowingly put your shoes on the moquette side and make it dirty, and someone else takes off their shoes and rests their feet on the moquette, then that person, along with their socks, will also become dirty. It's an obvious rule.

In the 1970s, the Joetsu Shinkansen had a dining car, and I have fond memories of eating curry rice there with my parents. On a different note, I went to Tokyo yesterday and took the Shinkansen back home. It was only a one-stop trip, so the ride took only 12 minutes. However, it would take 36 minutes on the local train.
ОтветитьThe person who died in the accident at Mishima Station was not technically a passenger. It was a young man who tried to forcefully pry open a nearly closed door, got his fingers caught, was dragged, and fell onto the tracks. To date, there hasn’t been a single passenger fatality caused by derailments or collisions during train operations. This is incredible, especially considering that several major earthquakes have occurred since the line first opened.
ОтветитьWhen going to Hakone from Tokyo, there is a way to take the Shinkansen to Odawara Station, but I prefer to take the Odakyu Romance Car from Shinjuku Station. Next time you come to Japan, give it a try.
ОтветитьIt's truly moving to see the woman behind the Shinkansen announcements.
ОтветитьAbsolutely wonderful video, I especially like how you add trivia, facts, and other general information. Thanks for the video
ОтветитьLove the video, Adam!! I am so keen to go to Japan- particularly the wood craft/ art region in Hakone- as I am a collector & lover of Japanese karakuri style puzzle boxes. (I think you were in this region in a previous video). I am perplexed by the external facade of that origin train station … that definitely does not look like Japanese architecture!!?? Considering it was constructed in early 1900s, I am curious about the designer & their influences! It definitely looks European.
Ответить京都鉄道博物館 2Fエントランス 運が良ければ 新幹線 在来線 蒸気機関車が同時に見られます😊
ОтветитьI don't think one should eat inside the bullet train. Japanese people do it, but that doesn't mean it's okay. Japanese people also walk on escalators. Specially people who slurp shouldn't be eating next to other people lol
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьAmazing as always. I wish New Zealand would get on board and put some effort into more long distance passenger trains. In the meantime though, I will voyage virtually alongside you. Thanks Adam and looking forward to the next Australian trip.
Ответить東海道新幹線は開業が古いからトンネルが少なくて景色が楽しめる
Ответитьグリーン車の足置くステップは、モケットになってる所は基本、土足禁止……靴脱いでくつろいでください!
ОтветитьAlthough the timetable on the station platform is displayed in minutes, the diagrams held by the train crew are actually managed in 15-second increments.
This could cause you to think your train departed or arrived 15 to 45 seconds late.
By the way, the annual average delay time for Shinkansen trains is less than 20 seconds.
Love Japan from Cambodia.
Ответить新幹線新幹線うるせ~
新幹線なんて普通です。
新幹線作ったら?
that’s so interesting that they refer to trains as departing from Track [Number] rather than Platform [Number]! Now that I think about it, it actually makes more sense in a way, to refer to the train as departing from the track it’s on, rather than the platform us passengers meet it at! thanks for another excellent video Adam. always a joy.
ОтветитьI am Japanese, but I am also interested in Spain's AVE high-speed train. The total length is slightly longer than the Shinkansen and the vehicle technology is extremely advanced.
ОтветитьIf the Linear Motor Car opens, would you choose the Shinkansen or the Linear Motor Car? I am a little curious. Time or scenery + train station?lol
ОтветитьI myself have traveled on the Shinkansen (from UK) in Jan 2023. I traveled from Tokyo to Kagoshima (single trip). Then rode it back but stopping at my visited locations. Kagoshima obviously, Kumamoto, Hiroshima, Kyoto and Tokyo...I returned to Japan in late Nov and rode the E353 Limited Express from Tokyo to Hinohara Station in Yamanashi...Also riding from Tokyo to Inada in Ibaraki...I did visit the Kyoto Rail Museum.
ОтветитьGreat and informative video.
