Do any of you lightly inhale at times while smoking a pipe?
ОтветитьThanks for this! I have taken up pipe smoking recently but only indulge after I complete (Anglican) Evening Prayer - making sure to put first things first.
I also like smoking a pipe because it doesn't stink up my house, like a cigar. My uncle used to smoke a pipe when I was a kid (before my cousin badgered him into giving it up), and I just remember how wonderful his office (which was in the downstairs part of his house) smelled when I would venture down there.
Legend!
ОтветитьI'm rather new to pipe smoking and I can see the appeal of sitting in contemplation while smoking your pipe. Enjoying the flavor, blowing the odd smoke ring, etc. This reminds me of Lemmy Kilmister from the band Motorhead. He felt the same about music. While it's nice to have a tune on in the background, you'll get the most out of the music and your time when you quiet down and really listen to it. When you distract yourself from music, just like pipe smoking, you rob yourself of the best part of it. I've found myself becoming my own friend in these times of solitude and thought. Enjoying a pipe or listening to music or both at the same time! A nice tune can go a long way with a nice bowl of tobacco. Whether it be jazz, classical music, country or rock and roll, I get this sort of stimulation in all of my senses. This time around, I listened to you both converse while I puffed on my pipe, and I enjoyed contemplating your words of wisdom. Thank you both for the great conversation!
ОтветитьA great conversation to observe. I particularly enjoy going to my shed, where there is no phone reception, and just be present with my pipe. Its a true haven to me. When I am overwhelmed I try to remind myself that being present is all there actually is. Amazing final words.
ОтветитьThat was an hour spent in wonderful company. It feels like we are all in a lounge together, very inviting.
Ответить13;28 - 13;29 don't be fooled by his glasses. They are misdirection for what he is really doing.
ОтветитьThoroughly enjoying this conversation and the degree of intelligence in it. Also, Dr Harrelson, what style hat is your cowboy hat?
ОтветитьWhat a treat that was having two of my listening favorites sit down for a conversation. It is so interesting to me to have these two gentlemen from very different backgrounds and parts of this world connect over their faith and love of pipe smoking. Thank you for that!
ОтветитьThank you both for this wonderful opportunity to listen, learn and be grateful. Happy Easter to you both. Kind regards, SF
ОтветитьOh shit!!! It;s Malcolm!!!
ОтветитьNo way! Exactly what I wanted!
ОтветитьI use a fountain 🖋️ for certain things. Its nice to dip and write neatly sometimes. I enjoy smoking my pipes, sometimes cigars, too. I like to read and I like to listen to scriptures and also meditate. There's a lot of good that comes from some meditation.
ОтветитьI wounder if Malcom has seen the lord of the rings films and how he feels about them I understand that a lot of the appreciation of the detail and more fine small moments that stand out on the page can often times be lost in the adaptation for the screen, but I'd be interested in his thoughts on the films.
ОтветитьThank you sir
ОтветитьI dont believe your accent.
ОтветитьAs Mr. Peanut Butter would say, "What is this, a crossover episode?!"
ОтветитьI, too, encountered the Kapp and Petersen through Waiting For Godot!
ОтветитьI kind of had a hintergedanken (thought in the back of my head) that there may be a connection between zen, pipe smoking and the teachings of the likes of Alan Watts and Eckhart Tolle. Hearing Malcolm speaking of "let the pipe bring you into the present....to be present (in a particular place)...the solitary pipe..." seems to be solid confirmation.
ОтветитьFor anyone wondering, the intro music is "Nine Minutes Of Woo" by Cleghorn. Cheers! :)
ОтветитьI'm not much of a believer or church guy, but I enjoyed your talk a lot! Thanks for having us the possibillity to watch that. Thanks and Greetings from Germany
ОтветитьThird time watching this video! These two fellows just get it… No one around me understands, so I’m so grateful for people making content like this! I’m not alone.
ОтветитьListening to these accents is itself like smoking two different blends. I would never have expected to smoke them both at once, but it is most intriguing.
ОтветитьIt’s wild how many people, myself included started smoking for 2 reason. #1 seeming to be a grandfather, father or uncle who use to smoke a wonderful smelling pipe. And #2 JRR Tolkien! As a young man the first time I saw Gandalf smoking I wanted to go out and get a pipe immediately
ОтветитьGreat conversation gentlemen! Greetings from Ireland. Home of kapp and Peterson
ОтветитьIts unfortunate that i have to wait to smoke a pipe
ОтветитьI’m only half way through this and not only is this a great conversation but the accents have me hooked. Good job gentlemen.
ОтветитьI'm glad you shared this with us. I hope we can carry these "old" ways well into the future and carry on traditional style of intellectual conversations and mutual respect for one another. This is pure gold what you have going on with the pipe cottage.👍🏼👍🏼
ОтветитьStrictly French red wine with a pipe and nothing else. Maybe an Italian, but only if desperate. Preferably to both though, a point of bitter.
ОтветитьI keep thinking that the mark on the door is a feather in Alan's hat.
ОтветитьJust got my first Pipe. Pure Inspiration.
ОтветитьTwo extremely intelligent men who like to talk. I would love to walk into a bar or tobacco shop and sit near these two.
ОтветитьLove the video
ОтветитьA man or a woman who enjoy a pipe. I took up the art of pipe smoking about a year and a half ago and enjoy it immensely .. particularly for the slow down.
ОтветитьI love this channel. It is informative and entertaining.
ОтветитьGreat channel!!!
ОтветитьI am late to this but it was thought provoking and interesting the conversation you 2 shared.
ОтветитьGoodness me. One can begin to conceive of what heaven must be like in simply listening to these gentlemen converse with such courtesy and class, humility and wisdom.
ОтветитьI love malcom i watch him regularly hes awesome!
Ответитьi had the same thought yesterday, looking into pipes and do's don'ts. that the pause inbetween pulling on the pipe in conversation allows for structuring the sentence for furthering the conversation.
ОтветитьThe response I always have for well-meaning but perhaps overly scrupulous evangelicals on the question of tobacco consumption is this. Matthew 15:11.
ОтветитьAn hour of my time truly well spent. Thank you both for sharing this conversation. 🇬🇧
ОтветитьWhat a fantastic interview! I could listen to you both all day! Please Please catch up with each other again soon. Really, Really enjoyable. Congratulations on such a treat for us.
ОтветитьDr. Alan, we need a pipe smoking Church.
I would almost move to attend one.
I can’t think of a better form of Christian fellowship and a way for Christians to find an intellectual sanctuary in conservatism.
The existence of pipes will insure the nonsense stays away while drawing in devoted attendance. If I had a pipe smoking service I wouldn’t miss it for the world because we greatly lack such community in culture and in the modern church.
The time spent watching this video was very much a blessing. Thank you for the Channel and the content.
ОтветитьAs an addition to your discussion on the Blue Grass and hearing some in England; it has been found that some of the Appalachian languages and accents in the Deep South are almost pure Old English in Origin.
ОтветитьI am a Christian and never heard of being apposed to tobacco
ОтветитьThis is fantastic. Thank you both for taking the time.
