Sounds like Leafs could’ve placed Mathews on LTIR and land some big fish at the deadline
ОтветитьTime to dumpster dive.
ОтветитьI don't know left side or right side D. But I see Toronto needing to get rid of Reilly and get someone like Byram, and then getting like 4 5M dollar solid effort players with size grit and skill to replace marner and Tavares
ОтветитьWatch the hand shakes at the end of game 5 canes panthers. This is what people mean when they say leafs fans are trash Carolina got destroyed blew a 2-0 lead in the series losing game do the fans boo them off the ice throw jerseys on the ice no they cheer for them even after the loss. Going 7 games against a Stanley cup team is good plenty of teams don’t make the playoffs yes you want to win it all but were the leafs so bad this year they deserved to be boo’d off the ice after taking the panthers to 7?
ОтветитьI'll be very surprised if Tre doesn't turn the Leafs into the next Calgary flames
ОтветитьHow do you get better when you have put the C on Matthews? They can't take it away now. They need a tough, lead-by-example, no-nonsense, hard-nosed Captain. The core roll over in the playoffs like little puppies. I don't see them making any progress counting on Matthews to somehow become a playoff player. He's a regular season super star and a playoff ghost.
ОтветитьWell deserved. You put in the work. Your passion is real
ОтветитьPutting on my armchair gm hat
Sign
JT
Puis Suter (if can passes on him)
Tanner Jeannot (because the leafs love a project)
Matthew knies-obviously
Offer sheet/trade for
Elmer Soderblom
Morgan Barron
Adam Edstrom
Trade away
Callë, Kampf, Robertson
Would love to get a puck moving defenceman but I don't think we can get that done this year
Evaluate closer to trade deadline, keep cap space available and see what happens
Interesting! I read a comment below that said he is now going to watch the channel for all the videos. Well, I guess he will be replacing me as I won't be tuning in anymore. Of course, the will fit right in with my not watching the NHL anymore as well. I'm completely sick of the fact that, at playoff time, the NHL stops calling penalties in the oddest of places; allows cheap players to do whatever they want, including injuring people withtout any sanctions of any kind, and still expect the players to put their best efforts forward while injured. The result is, the cheap teams win and the talented teams, who play the best hockey, lose with very, very few exceptions. The NHL makes a big showing of how they have a strict policy of protecting players (especially goalies) and then allow the most aggregious infractions imaginable.
I'm sick of it and I'm done. I have loved the way the Leafs have played over the last decade (give or take) and will miss Marner if he goes but I refuse to blame the Leafs players as you've done. They play their asses off the whole season to be the best and then the NHL undercuts them in the playoffs with terrible ref'ing. It's ridiculous and sad and I'll state here categorically that I'd prefer the Leafs to win the President's Cup over the Stanley every single time. Thank to every member of the Leafs organization. That's all!!

ОтветитьThere's something funny and ironic about Brad making the "hockey tree" analogy when he's the GM for a team named "The Leafs"
ОтветитьCongratulations Steve!! Been a viewer for over a decade, so thank you for the countless hours of entertainment!
ОтветитьCongrats Steve, been here since the bubble, started watching sdpn shortly after, love the show, Jesse's insights to the media scrums added a layer to the pod and I thoroughly enjoy Jesse's level headed analysis, ya'll have created a podcast to be proud of 👏 👏 👏 👏
ОтветитьThey need a shrink to help them get out of their heads!!!!
ОтветитьHockey is the only sport where players injuries are "personal matter"...
ОтветитьIf they'd sacrifice to help each other, defend each other, the Leafs would win the Cup.
ОтветитьNYR fan, subscribing from Massachusetts! You deserve all the success!!
ОтветитьCJ pulling no punches, professional and deadly. Love it hear those questions.
Ответить“YES LOOK AT ME! IM EMOTIONAL!”
ОтветитьI don't know how Toronto feels about getting Stamkos out of Nashville... Yet I think he would bring the experience and the heart the team needs to surge forward in the playoffs. You need heart and new blood that hasn't been beaten down by the media and fanbase to lead that locker room. Yes he is old and doesn't produce like he did in his prime but the same could be said about the 2020 cup run when he was injured and scored a single goal. He was still in the bubble, he still had an impact on the locker room, he still showed up injured, played a shift scored and inspired his team to a cup.
Sometimes to have a successful run it's not having an all star roster but a collective that can lift each other up after a bad game and come back stronger.
After the Leafs go down 0-1 they look like a team thats down 0-4, right.
But is it because of the chokes that happened in the past that we all know about, or is it because they lack the confidence needed to score when they need to. Maybe those 2 things are the same. I don't think so.
Any team will look to its best players when they need to catch up. The Leafs best aren't their best when they need them to be.
The Leafs need players with a proven record of performance under pressure.
If you need an example, look at last nights victory by the Oilers over the Stars and how McDavid made it happen with contributions exactly when they were needed.
Can Matthews become that player ? Thats where he needs to grow.
Same excuses, different cast. You said at the beginning of the video " The core was the same ." Leaf nation had different attitudes after the regular season season. This the year chants after beating Ottawa were loud and wide. The continuance of choking is that. The MLSE board are, and have always made the final decisions. THAT'S the problem!
ОтветитьIf their PR team is on their game the Leafs need to announce any trades or signings right as the Stanley Cup is handed out. 😜
ОтветитьI find the game 3 narrative so bizarre. Do you know what team we are talking about here? If they win that game I have zero doubt they lose 4 in a row. That's what this team is. That is their MO. To think otherwise is just naive.
ОтветитьCongrats on milestone Steve! Thank you for all your videos on here and on the SDPN channel.
ОтветитьI am so so so tired of the never ending Marner soap opera...he cries constantly how he doesn't want all this attention, while doing everything he can to draw attention to himself. Well Mitch, if you really want your privacy, fire your meathead agent.
ОтветитьThis GM Treehugger is full of shit.
ОтветитьToronto has had two major problems all season: they don't get enough shots on net, and they fail to play for 60 minutes.
ОтветитьWill Dangle reach 1M subscribers before the Leafs reach the Stanley Cup Finals?
ОтветитьYour content is so relatable how we feel, no wonder it's a success!
ОтветитьGrats on 250K, man!
Well deserved!
I look forward to seeing the same videos…….a year from now 😂
The window is closed on this core 4 even if you break it up, Matthews is the guy they need to move on from. Just like the Bruins when they moved on from Thornton
they're too finesse... the panthers and the bolts are brutish... the get the puck out of the corner, they forecheck like they're being paid to win puck battles... apparently that's how you build a Stanley cup playoff team... everybody doesn't have mcdavid and drysiddle... and if you don't have mcdcvid and drydyddle, you have to have the puck on your stick (so the other team doesn't have the puck on their stick) -- and that takes brute force and a fanatical devotion to the queen...
ОтветитьBring Kadri back he had heart
ОтветитьJT is resigning for a screaming deal. Mitch is gonna have to take a massive pay cut to stay.
ОтветитьI would like to see Mitch Maner walks😊
ОтветитьCongrats on 250k subs.
0 dubs though. 🏆
I hope Tavares stays😊
ОтветитьThe only way Mitchy stays is if he goes to the Tree an says "O.K. I will stay for 7 million per year".
ОтветитьMy Flyers need a Steve Dangle. The mix of analysis, existential angst, passion, and Philly attitude would be INCREDIBLE.
ОтветитьThe placement of that Potvin mask in the background chef's kiss
ОтветитьWhat a loud mouth snook
Ответитьleafs never got past there demons! there so close!.., but yet so damm far!.. l, every team that knocks them out the playoffs that team always goes on to win the cup!..
ОтветитьBeing a Sens fan...just a bunch of BS!
ОтветитьTavares… 6/5/4 million. 3 yr contract. Mitch. Sorry. Go make your money somewhere else. We can get some dude for 5 million and still go out the first or second round. Trade Mathews too. He’s a generational talent… but that’s 9 years nowandhedoesNOT have that extra step. McDavid does and it shows. Matthews will not be that guy, how much proof do we need
ОтветитьMitch has to go. The cap space will give us so much room to pick and choose what we need.
Ответитьthis team reminds me of the boston red sox before 2004
ОтветитьBeen watching since Matthews arrived on the team
ОтветитьIt doesn’t matter how you remake this team - as long as Matthews is at the top as captain, this team will never get past the second round. When your captain, supposed best player, 60 goal scorer, consistently craps the bed and disappears in the biggest games year after year after year (times nine)… it’s time to move on from him. Like 3 goals in his last twenty something playoff games…. for the game’s highest player in a hard cap league??? And he has the stones to blame the other “passengers” on the Leafs??? This guy is the opposite of a leader. He’s a disgrace as a captain. No other way to say it. And the other players follow his “lead”. Getting rid of Matthews will put this team on the road to redemption.
