What are the 5 BEST RYE WHISKIES available under $50 you MUST try?

I'm getting to Rye, at first, did not like the Dickel Rye at first, love it now, also into Alberta Premium Cask strength, and High West double

The Bullet 12 is a very good rye.

most of the mash bills have corn in them so they are just bourbon with less corn. Ryes should be Rye.

That redwood empire is my absolute favorite rye. It’s hard to find near me, but it’s great. I’ll admit, I’m newer to rye (typically a bourbon guy), but this one is killer.

You can't get Old Forester in Missouri..... I really enjoy neat Redwood Forest Lost Emerald Giant. Regular Bulliet Rye for 28$ is good .Russell's is really good neat. Just gets better and better as you sip it. Will be getting Sazerac Rye Soon.

I got into rye whiskies a couple of years ago. First I had them in Old Fashions which were amazing. My first bottle I bought was Knobb Creek which as you said is a great intro to rye. Great video!

What are you talking about...I just bought two (2) Wild Turkey Rare Breed Rye out the door, tax included for less than $63. I do need to confess though...I had the cash register person ring them up, it came up with nothing. She called the manager over, she pressed a few buttons, went over to the shelf, came back and entered the price of $28.99 per. I went back afterwards and looked at the label closer, it was a tag for Wild Turkey 101 750ml. I guess it was my day.

Nice picks. Chattanooga is doing special stuff. The 111 (bourbon) is a 2yr but drinks like a 10 or more imo. Really love it. Need to get to the rye. I really like OF rye (favorite), pikesville rye, rare breed rye even though I had to pay $51 here in tx for it. I’ll have to try that mitchers. Been saying it for a couple years but might just pull the trigger after this video.

Great list, David. That Bulliet 12 year rye was my introduction into rye. It's sad that its discontinued. If I ever see any on th shelf, I'm buying all of them.

I bought an Old Pepper Rye store pick which is fantastic. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with old pepper. Also the Knob Creek single barrel select is really good. Great video! Also, are they still producing the bullett 12 year? I don’t think i’ve ever seen it.

Balcones Texas rye! Dude it’s one of the most unique rye I’ve ever had. It has this chocolate note. It drinks pretty harsh but once you let it open up, it’s amazing. It’s not a borderline rye.

Gotta pick up a Balcones Texas Rye one day. 100 proof, rich dark chocolate finish.

Have you tried the VA ABC store select Knob Creek Rye at 115 proof? Thoughts on it?

It’s the Knob Creek for me! If you like the regular 100 proof KC Rye, find a bottle of the Single Barrel. YUM!

To me Old Forester rye is much better than Sazerac.

That Baby Saz is just WOW. You let that bottle open up and it just tastes like a spicy black tea. And it's a heavy black tea note that is outstanding

Some other excellent ryes below $50 are FEW Straight Rye Whiskey $40 (NOT their Immortal Rye Whiskey with tea) and New Riff Rye BiB $45.

Redwood Empire is such a delight. It drinks so sweet! I have to agree on your top 5 though.... maybe I'd put Redwood in there though, just because it's so cheap. I've not had a single drop of whiskey from Chattanooga I've disliked.

Old Overholt BIB rye

Found a couple bottles of Pikeville Rye and grabbed them both as they're not easy to come by around my area.
Completely underwhelmed!
I'd rather have Rare Breed Rye or anything from the Knob Creek Rye line up.

Best rye I found was crown royal noble collection 16 year.

I’d put pikesville on this list. $40 110 proof six year old from heaven hill. You can’t go wrong.

I can get Pikesville Rye here in my area for $45 on sale. Would definitely have that in my top 5 list.

That Chattanooga Rye is a SLEEPER! Not a huge fan of their bourbons, but the rye is fantastic.

I get Rare Breed Rye at Costco for $45. Let me say, I have backups. The emerald giant another great rye, and that Knob Creek was my intro to rye and very drinkable.

Id have to put Pikesville Rye and High West Double Rye on my list. And if Im pushing up to 70 Ive got to add New Riff 6yr Malted Rye and Knob Creek Cask Strength (2018 LE)

I love OF Rye. I really enjoy Stellum Rye and Rare Breed Rye, too, but I know they might not be under $50 in most places. I really want to try the Chattanooga Rye, I have the BiB and it's really good. I always have Sazarac Rye on hand, it's a requirement in New Orleans, but it's honestly not my favorite.
