A graph drawn in the US showing a steady increase in weight, then a kink in the graph in the mid-1970s with a faster increase in weight over time. The graph is the same for different ethnic groups and different age groups. What happened in the mid-1970s? The introduction of ultra-processed foods.
ОтветитьClassical clinical trial, the hold standard, divide a group into two groups, each the same amount of fat, sugar and salt, one group natural and minimal processed food, the other group ultra processed food. The first group lost a kilo in weight, the second group gained a kilo in weight, over the duration of the trial.
ОтветитьBrazil had no obesity, it was of academic interest only. Then within ten years, an epidemic of obesity and type 2 diabetes. The cause, the country was flooded with American ultra-processed food.
Ground breaking work by Brazilian professor, instead of focussing on macro nutrients, focus on food, resulting in the NOVA classification system for food. At one end natural food for example an apple 🍎 off a tree, followed by minimal processing for example cooking, through to ultra processed food.
Win win. Keep on eating ultra-processed food and Big Pharma will sell you the drugs to lose weight.
I'm sure I'm not the only one asking, who is finding this guy?
Ultra-processed People dismisses lack of willpower.
ОтветитьDamaged nerves. Really . No description of what that damage is.
The first time ive watched a Zoe talk, and thought, this guy is a fraud.
How much money is he and his department recieving from Big Pharma?
Science over Social Media. Thank you Zoe for your insight into something, science being the truth/closes to the truth; and far more than individuals who just give (and I don't mean share) their opinions without any evidence whatsoever on topics of importance, e.g., health, obesity, Diabetes and more.
ОтветитьYes, both. We need to address our food problems, and we also need to address the brain chemistry that in certain individuals makes that junk food irresistible. Its a tool to help us change our diets, and to reduce public addiction to the junk food in the first place. It is a lot easier for the market to offer us healthier food when we are not too addicted to junk to switch to it even if its available.
ОтветитьLouis. You're the first person I have ever encountered who understands what I go through. I'm 77, and 5'8". MY BMI varies between 2.6 and 2.9.
If my wife and I, she's 5'2", eat exactly the same food and quantity, she loses weight while I gain weight.
Further, I don't feel hunger.
Before I retired I ran my own small company. It was very clear that my staff needed to eat far more than i did. In fact I have said many times that if the world hit a severe famine I would be the last person left alive.
If we went to a convention and had to build a complex exhibition stand I would not bother with breakfast and work all day without eating. No problem, but I had to be very strong with my employees, insisting that they go eat and not follow my example.
I have known since my early teens that I was not like everyone else.
In 1989, I attended a convention in Las Vegas, as a guest of an American company I represented in Europe. I followed their eating habits out of courtesy to them. On returning to Europe I had gained 3.5kgs in just seven days. None of my clothes fit me. I was so angry I stopped eating. I did not eat anything at all for five weeks. I only drank water. I had no hunger or desire to eat. As every day passed I felt better and better.
In five weeks my weight dropped from 94kgs to 76kgs. I felt great. The biggest difficulty I had was in starting to eat again. I had no desire to eat, but knew that I had to start eating.
Digesting the first meal was agony. My digestive system went into shock. Intestinal cramps and lethargy like you can't believe.
Today the only way I can maintain a stable weight, currently 87kgs, is to average one normal meal ever two days. The biggest problem with that is social. My wife has to eat on her own a lot of the time, since I can't join her. If we visit friends or family and eat with them, I have to fast for several days afterwards.
... and worse than that, the whole world ,except you, believes that I must binge on food. I hate that!
I hope you do get to read this, since I believe it should help your research.
GLP-1 resistance in the furure if we keep taking these medicines?
ОтветитьThis was really interesting! Thanks so much for the vid!
Ответитьfor me the main evident question remains unsanswered: can one again heal these nerves via eating unprocessed foods? Is there an answer?
ОтветитьNot a mention of insulin……
ОтветитьUnfortunately for a lot of people these glp-1 shots put you in the hospital with pancreatitis because I know I'm one after only two weeks I had such severe pain I had to go to the hospital and it was the Wegovy so there are some pretty bad side effects not to mention severe vomiting
ОтветитьNot convinced now. Read the comments. Hmm. I don’t trust this scientist.
ОтветитьIf you want to understand Aronne’s views follow the money.
ОтветитьI had to do keto for 6 m0nths to lose 26lbs and it was very hard to get over my sugar addiction.
ОтветитьIf you cant lose weight despite trying it is your fault because you never bothered to learn how to manage and repair your health so that you can. Exercise is crucial to not only losing fat but managing your health in general. Thank you Capt Obvious for telling us we can control our weight. A doctor (especially with a gut like this guy) who tells you that you need drugs and no exercise is a quack. You can do it naturally. You don't repair the damage of processed foods with more chemicals.
ОтветитьI have a rare form of obesity, called Hypothalamic Obesity, because I have damage to my pituitary gland and hypothalamus eversince birth. Does this doctor know anything about that? Thank you!
Ответитьgood
ОтветитьAllergies can cause weight gain.
ОтветитьObesity is cured by bodybuilder many years ago t3 eca clen dnp anabolics 😂

ОтветитьI can't agree I was obese I lowered calories by changing one food at a time, replaced soda with diet, then when I was consistent went to the next, reduced high fat with low fat and when I was consistent went to the next increased fibre and protein and when I was consistent, introduced weight training and walking and when I was consistent started to include low calorie favourite food such as protein bars ranging from 163 calories to 243 calories and 16g protein to 21g protein. I managed to lose weight. Calories and adherence are king as Lyne Norton always says. So I don't buy this story. It's small little changes over a long period of time that do the greatest impact. These changes are for life.
ОтветитьI'm going to take a lot of this with a huge pinch of salt. Some of the takes in this podcasts were so bizarre. This obese person is pushing medications like Ozempic and essentially says to the question about diet "Have you tried changing the food industry?", completely ignoring that of course you can't, but you can make better choices. Plain weird.
ОтветитьThis is just an extended ad for pharmaceuticals, named and unnamed.
ОтветитьObesity id not a disease, it's a symptom of eating plants, period; that's the source. Stop it, eat meat, we are carnivores and you will get better and skinny as soon as you stop eating plants. PLANTS ARE POISON.
ОтветитьYes, I will give you high BMI in strength athletes as a problem, but the number of folks who run into this problem is a tiny fraction of a minuscule percentage. My guess is the good doctor has a high BMI. Could even be in the obese range.
ОтветитьCarnivore diet. Every meal must contain fat and protein. No carbs. Everything ends as higher glucose in blood, including starch from for example fries. Higher blood glucose after eating carbs above gluconeogenesis baseline is problem for your body. Eat real complex foods - eggs, butter, lard, red meat, white meat (sometimes, low fat meat), salt, drink water not fizzy drinks. Your body must have chance to heal. Eat enough proteins, your lean weight (your optimal weight) multiplied by 2 grams of protein every day. You will have much better satiety and less sugar cravings.
ОтветитьI dream of science coming up with some kind of genetic blocker to stop storing fat, lets say over 10 or 15%. And if we binge eat or drink we just go to the toilet more often
ОтветитьFor me, it’s almost never about “not feeling full.” When I eat unhealthy foods it’s not because I’m hungry. When I’m hungry I usually eat a healthy meal. I eat unhealthy deserts or snacks because they’re enjoyable (to me) & I have trouble resisting the urge. Definitely psychological with perhaps a physical component. I wonder how many overweight people like myself overeat because of the “pleasure trap” rather than excess hunger.
ОтветитьLol im fat because i drink too much beer and junk food.
Ответитьno thanks
ОтветитьWhat I’d like to no is can I use this weight loss drug if I don’t have a full pancreas I only have small part of the head I lost it from a gallstone getting stuck in it. I definitely have that glp1 missing
ОтветитьHormones seem to have very strong feedback mechanisms at work, so I would think are a hormone will cause an imbalance that our body will adapt to. I think interference with this system may have consequences that we haven't anticipated. It seems to me that the modern way of eating is why people gain weight and that's what needs to change.
ОтветитьOf course exercise alone won't lose weight if you overeat, but exercise is helpful to weight loss through burning calories and increasing muscle, which can increase the motabolism.
ОтветитьHas Zoe covered thyroid issues at all? I'm currently having blood tests for hypothyroidism and I would love to hear some good advice from an expert about this please. Xxx
ОтветитьHow come the interview skimmed over natural ways - apart from drugs - to change the body's metabolic info system? This was too drug focused .
ОтветитьI have been a Zoe devotee up until I listened to this Podcast. In this day and age, I cannot believe that side effects etc were not at least discussed or considered during this episode.
I understand that to the casual observer the benefits of weight loss if you are obese are maybe outweighed by any long term side effects, but how can Zoe profess to be a company which promotes health not at least discuss or consider side effects - even if the out come was 'we don't know yet'.
To me it just sounded like a promotion for the weight loss drugs.
Very disappointed in you Zoe!
The food industry has a lot to answer for.
ОтветитьI've watched another doctor who mentioned that the new weight-loss drugs primarily remove a person's protein stores, since people on these drugs won't heal after a surgical operation.
ОтветитьBeautiful & important perspective! Traditional medicine & society will be judged by history when the etiology of obesity is discovered & understood one day & no, it's not simply about carbs, unfortunately.
Bariatric surgery for obesity is the equivalent of lobotomy for mental illness.
I quite like Zoe, but I must say, this one is a rather bad podcast. The guest has been mostly evading giving much info. This content would have easily been compresed in 5 minutes max.
ОтветитьHorse shit - Obesity is a lifestyle outcome.
ОтветитьYou cure obesity by correctly eating - meat based essential fats and proteins and very low carb to no carb. Reduce blood glucose, control insulin, lose weight.
ОтветитьThe problem with saying exercise is the answer. Obesity causes other health conditions or makes other psychical problems worse. Exercising becomes very difficult. There needs to be more help to get those people support to exercise.
ОтветитьZoe I am losing my patience. You need to pay attention to these sorts of comments. To release an interview with someone so obviously deeply invested in (by?) big pharma is unethical in the extreme. He mentioned Rockefeller 😂 - How unintelligent is your audience? As your own profits from the products you have started to supply grow, so I see your moral ground sinking. From microbiome health to the miracle of drugs? Studies this and that, we know how corrupt the peer review system is. Now you promote drugs to “cure” lifestyle issues. Get. A. Grip. So so glad I have not done what I have been tempted to do in the past, and invest any of my own meagre resources into Zoe.
Some prior interviews have been so interesting - but now I question your stance. Eat unprocessed food, and ferments, and make sure your life makes you happy. That, in a nutshell, is healthy advice. Leave screens alone. Do we need Zoe anymore? I’m not so sure. But you will be crying all the way to the bank, of that, I am sure.
A mouthpiece for big pharma, encouraging purchase of their costly product.
ОтветитьI gained a lot of weight after being prescribed steroids for a medical condition it turned out I didn't have. It has had severe implications on my health ever since. In my country, we can't sue for misdiagnosis.
Ответить
