because what you hear is the interaction sound of the rotor blade vortex and that is created when a rotor blade passes near the abrasive tip vortices of the previous blade
This is known as high amplitude impulse noise
the rotor downwash of the chinook helicopter is 160 km per hour
and the high-pitched scream is caused by the first stage compressor shearing through the air at the intake
Air is compressed, which is called the ram effect
and the blades cut through it and ramming that air against the first stator
