Is Being a Therian a Trauma Response?

Aren't copinglinks sort of like Therianthropy (or Otherkinism) resulting from trauma? I totally agree that leaning into your religion/spirituality is a totally rational and human response to trauma and for a lot of Therians (myself included) their non-human identity is highly spiritual. Great video, Lila. Looking forward to the next one. :) And I hope whatever trauma you are going through will soon be resolved.

I really like how you talked about this, I’m Therian but also have DID which is formed through repeated childhood trauma. I don’t think it’s a trauma response but some Otherkin may be using it that way.

No. For me I have a lot of trauma from being a therian. So much so I can’t even watch most therian videos without assistance. :(

I have cptsd from my childhood. I'm 80% sure my therians were made by my brain as a way to protect myself.
