So, on a scale of one to ten, how racist would you say this episode is?

I consider this the precursor to Spongebob!

For the most part, this is pretty accurate in Hopi culture and religion. Even though I’m not Hopi, I am a southwestern Native American (Navajo, Pima, Jicarilla Apache). Only thing is that Hopis don’t dress like the little boy lol. But the research done for this episode is amazing.

The Hope and Crosby of Gmby..Gumby was basically the good side (non-scandal) of BHing, Pokey had the rather fearful, bragging persona of a Bob Hope..that became his persona..love that horse.

Been looking for this episode for years haha. Kinda ironic its posted on my birthday. I got a gumby tape for my birthday as a kid. This was one of the episodes.

My mom's been watching the old horror soap opera "Dark Shadows," and it frequently uses the same thunderclap stock sound effects this episode used. Though to be fair, I've also heard these thunder sound effects on "Rocky and Bullwinkle," and one of them used to frequently be used with The Count on "Sesame Street" in the 70s.

This was my favorite episode growing up.

This is the first time I hear Gumby’s new voice

Stalagtites stick tight to the ceiling and stalagmites _might_, if they could. I remember other shows and movies from around the same time and later and the portrayal of Native Americans was hardly ever respectful in any way. I wasn't expecting this and can't think of a single example of anything similar.

Does anybody know the names of the songs featured in this? I'm sure it was royalty free recordings that Clokey and his team had at the time, but they're so pretty. I'd love to be able to find them on a platform where I can hear the whole thing.

This was my favorite and most memorable Gumby. Still not sure why.
