Shimano Tranx 400, Daiwa Lexa HD 300/ 400, Abu Garcia Revo Toro Beast review and comparison

I’ve got a revo rocket toro 60 and it will flat throw a live bait 100 yards wity a twitch of the wrist , i haven’t even been able to fully cast it on my 8’ okuma battle cat rod , and it’s a deadly combo for the Ohio River where I live .. only flaw is no bait clicker , $400 reel and you don’t get a clicker on a huge ass reel ? Makes zero sense to me , I think they realized that and added one to yet newest max 4-60 low pro reel .. too many pay lake and river fishermen using these style reels not to have a clicker in my opinion

I've never seen a belleville or bellvue washer in a reel...I've seen crescent washers commonly known as spring washers though.

Would like to have seen the jdm tatula 400 in here. It's a great reel and the stainless steel pinion gear makes it a good reel for durability. Also have what Shimano call x ship unlike most lexas and has micro gears.

Very helpful video in deciding a buy. Thank you! I have my first ever baitcaster reel - a KastKing bought and it has plastic gears. I opened it up and found three teeth on of the plastic gears broke off and now it won't spin properly anymore - making grinding noises. I'm never buying anything with plastic gear ever again!

Bellviels maintain drag consistency when drags heat up on big fish with heavy drag settings due to thermal expansion. Reason I dislike the tranx is the drag fails due to this effect. Get a lexa

Do you think the Tranx 400 would work as a long distance surf casting reel for pompano on a 12 foot surf rod? Mostly cast 90 yards or less with an4 oz lead and high low bait rig.

i love this kind of clarification. it is very in details unlike some reviews they just focus on cosmetic of the reels and casting distance only.

I have the Lexa 400. I went with that over the Tranx. I'm very happy with it. I have Shimano rods and reels and Daiwa... and Avet... so I don't discriminate either.

I just ordered the Lexa 300 HD. I wish I had crossed this video first. No bait stores seemed to carry the reel so I could examine it. After seeing the 400’s size to the 300, and the metal piece on the 400 vs the plastic piece on the 300. I believe it would have been worth the extra $50. The reel will go on the Daiwa DX 8ft Heavy/fast rod. It’s for throwing 10” swimbaits and A-rig at Lake Guntersville. I’m sure I’ll love the 300, but it’s truly a big bait rod and reel, so now I’m wishing I’d have went bigger.

It would be nice to find all steel gears that could replace the plastic ones for the reels.

for me iv fallen in love with shimano but I took my old abu ambassadeur revo s from 2009, still smooth as butter if you want something that will last you a lifetime you should buy an Ambassadeur wich includes all the revo beast and toro beast, shimano has been super smooth way smoother than abu and i do not doubt that shimano is better quality but i think abu reels are built like tanks and that makes up for the loose in quality

Appreciate the reviews! I have been looking for a new musky specific reel, and I hate how the disengaging levelwind reels cast (compared to like a Calcutta 400b, it casts super easy with a non-disengaging levelwind). I have had three pinion gears strip, and two spool pins break on two lexa 400. Very frustrating. The handle falls forward and engages midcast. The tranx sure gets good reviews, but I may even lean towards a komodo. I'll keep watching!

Looking to throw 3 ounce swimbaits (bucca bull shads and bull gill) for musky/ bass. Trying to decide between Shimano tranx 300 and the lexa 300 hd. Would you recommend one over the other? Thanks
