Definitely seems a bit "cozier". Do you feel cramped at all when performing operations? (Might be just lens distortions or camera angles but looks that way to me in a couple areas.) How are you getting along with the workbench against the wall? Do you miss the "all access" to the bench? Regardless, if the newfound space motivates exercise, I'd say the sacrifice was worth it - looking fantastic, Mr. Bates! Will be really interested in seeing your home gym video with some talk about your fitness routine.
ОтветитьHow are you liking the workbench up against the wall? I've gotten pretty used to being able to access mine from all four sides.
ОтветитьWhere are your clamps? Don't see any around your assembly table...
ОтветитьSo much room to build an incredible garage gym now! Please tell me this is happening...?
ОтветитьHAHAHA So now you can beat your Dad from a distance?
ОтветитьSame Jay, half the size.
ОтветитьCongratulations on dedicating the space and time/effort on your health. It shows for sure - stay with it because it will matter most in your 40s and beyond.
ОтветитьCan't wait to see what you do with your assembly bench! I've been trying to figure out how to accommodate a large assembly bench/outfeed and add a bench that can handle a hammer and your workhorse seems like the perfect solution.
ОтветитьYour looking great Jay and the shop does look more efficient Maybe its because I have a small shop, You be much more productive with a shop like this. And I love that your daughter is in the shop helping out. I started at a young age too. My grandfather was my shop guru and I practically grew up in his shop.
ОтветитьMoving that miter saw station looks like a major project. It reminds me a little of my friend and removing the motor in his Dodge Neon SRT-4. Yes, it's a big project but he's done it so many times, he can do it some what quick and it's not to too much work.
ОтветитьLove the new layout. Just curious, would it be better to move the dust collection system outside to cut down on noise, or does it really make any difference with different tools running.
ОтветитьLooking good Jay. I have been noticing that you are looking thinner, and now I see the muscle you are putting on. Keep up the good work!
ОтветитьPerfect timing, thank you.
ОтветитьShop looks great! Dust in your face... not good.. I have a 10x24 shop... it's tough organizing, but I'm sure over time I'll get it right :-)
ОтветитьIsn't it interesting how a something like reorganizing or changing the layout of your shop can inspire and motivate you.
ОтветитьI started watching the video thinking you looked younger!! Always blown away by your work ethic and vision!!
ОтветитьDefinitely reminiscent of the old shop! Keep up the good work!
ОтветитьHow are those Olympic rings working out?
ОтветитьI see your helper! She is learning so much by just being around you. I imagine her having a speaking part in these videos one day.
ОтветитьJay, I’m assuming you modeled this up in SketchUp and got a good (virtual) feel of the spacing and aisles?
ОтветитьYeah, join his email list. He went into recently on his blog
ОтветитьHey Jay, Have you had any issues with dust and chips going into your cyclone filter stack. It's usually caused by a leak somewhere around the chip barrel lid or hose connections. I've had it happen twice. The first time was that little length of hose between the cone and the barrel. I haven't figured out what is causing it for the second time.
ОтветитьNice setup! Can I ask how much outfeed space you have on your table saw? Do you reccomend enough outfeed to rip a 4x8 sheet of plywood? Just wondering how much infeed/outfeed you suggest.
ОтветитьSo awesome Jay! Thanks!
ОтветитьYou trying to tell us that the new Jay didn’t lay every inch of this new layout out in sketchup? Come on now, be honest 😀
ОтветитьSo how do you get up stairs now
ОтветитьGood job Im playoing around with my limited space and seem I cannot commit😅😂 good job and flow logic👍🏻
ОтветитьDang Jay!!!!! More like same body but takes up half the space.
ОтветитьLooks great, Jay. Do you think you'll miss access to both sides of the assembly table? (Best change I made in my shop was opening 4-sided access to my table.)
ОтветитьGreat new set up buddy , very envious over here 🇬🇧
ОтветитьNice layout, Jay~! Maybe in one of your future videos you could talk a little about your "workflow wheel". I'm still trying to get a handle on the concept with my shop. I know that it's specific to an individual, but I'd like to hear more about it for some inspiration. :-)
ОтветитьWhat happened to the man-lift to the attic?
ОтветитьWhen I saw your last video, I kept thinking you had changed things around. Looks good.
ОтветитьYour doing great with the weight loss. Not easy to do! Shop looks great!
ОтветитьYeah it’s all ways something to change. One new too long changes everything. That open space to build is a must! That center dust collector is smart! I might need to relocate my dust collector also!
ОтветитьJay's bringing sexy back. Best thing I ever did was start training serious at the age of 12...I'll be 50 this year and still workout. I'm utterly amazed by people who dont exercise their body. It feels great when you do it and u feel like complete garbage when you dont. Keep it up Jay....the change is more impressive than the woodworking.
ОтветитьYou mentioned you exercise in the shop a few minutes into the video, when I first started watching this I thought wow you look like you've been working out. Time to rearrange my shop
ОтветитьI did very similar about a year ago in my shop ( also have a 30 x 40)i basicly consolidated my wood shop to the back fourth of my shop which gives me plenty of open area to assemble , home gym is is in the other 4th , and front half of my shop is open area
ОтветитьIs it possible that replacing the bearings of the miter saw will improve its accuracy? If the problem is in the linear sliding bearings, they're probably harder to replace.
ОтветитьMan looking good
ОтветитьI’ll be interested to follow your woodworking and home gym situation. I have a home gym (specifically for strongman) and do woodworking in the same space. Sometimes one gets in the way of the other, but I just have it all in a 2 car garage. Be strong and courageous!
ОтветитьI had a Unisaw that spit sawdust at me. I sold it. The next owner complained of the same problem. He bought a sawstop. The shop looks good. I like your shop organizing videos the best.
ОтветитьDang! You’ve lost weight. Great job!
ОтветитьSpace is one of the biggest luxuries in a shop. Reducing your footprint makes the space seem more relatable.
ОтветитьLooking great, Jay. Inspiring and motivating!
ОтветитьSo much room for activities!
ОтветитьWhere are you located? I love your work benches, Do you sell your workbenches? Thank you
ОтветитьLove the new shop layout, looks really cozy indeed. I totally get your point of going back to your old miter saw because of dust collection. I recently bought a bosch proglide 12inch and I absolutely hate the dust collection on it. I've built a box around it just like you have with a 4inch dust port hooked up to my 3hp DC and still get dust spraying everywhere, even with the opening only at the blade. Definitely think I'll be switching back to a dewalt 12inch slider. Anyway shop looks amazing!
ОтветитьNew to your channel. Where did the hickory work bench go?
ОтветитьJay, I know this is 2 years old but would you mind sharing the approximate square footage the “shop” occupies. The camera lens sometimes makes it hard to judge. Your assembly table looks to be 10’ long.
Ответить
