We made it one whole month! My special guest helps me close out the first of 11 (I hope).
The Story of This Garment:
My dear husband celebrated his birthday earlier this year and I whipped him up an uptown hoodie...which is different than the run of the mill farm hoodies. He liked it. He didn't think I made it. Thanks, I think.
Pattern and Fabric:
This is the can't go wrong McCall's 7841. I have made this hoodie several times for my husband and once for my daughter. This time I made it out of a grey scuba with light blue knit lining in the pocket, the hood and the ties.
Construction
The Thoughtful Creative says on her channel to make every pattern three times. It saves money and you truly learn to sew better when you make the same pattern three times because you learn from your mistakes and you get to "practice" doing the same thing over again. That must be true, because this was the third time I made this hoodie and it went together very quickly. As my husband pointed out, the ties are not necessary. He doesn't use them and quite frankly they would be a safety hazard on the farm. That is why I consider this his uptown hoodie.
Fit and Sizing
The pattern comes in small-medium-large. I make my husband the large and it fits him like it was made for him...haha. No alterations were needed at all, which is great when you are making something for someone else, because it isn't really easy to have them try it on while you are making it!
Final Word and Advice
My husband likes hoodies. His favourite thing to wear for sure. A long sleeve T-shirt, jeans and a hoodie. I am happy that I can make them for him. He likes the big pocket to hold his phone. My advice to beginning sewers is that making something for someone you love, that they like and appreciate is really fun!
The Grateful Thread
Just to add a bit more gratitude in the world, tell me below in the comments what you are thankful for today? Today, I am grateful for my dear husband for being a good sport and appearing in my videos, not once, but twice this month. For supporting always, even if he thinks I'm being a little crazy. (365 days!) I am grateful for all of you who have watched and commented and made me feel like I am not completely crazy. And I am grateful for the incredible beautiful masterpiece which is fall. Loving the leaves. Hope you are getting outside some and enjoying them.
Stick with me friends. Lets see how long we can keep this roll going!
