My hair doesn't get baby knots, they are pretty huge.

My fav detangler is my fingers. I can feel the knots and work them out or cut. I also use a steamer to detangle before I wash. Thank you for this info because they are the worst! It’s been better with oil rinsing though.

I don't really get fairy knots but I also rarely wear my hear just out and in an afro. I wash every two weeks, blow dry and keep my hair in cornrows for the most part. I detangle dry with oil as I'm taking the cornrows out and that routine has been working really well for me.

I was never one to put honey on my hair so, I decided to get over my phobia and I melted some honey and shea butter and added it to the henna I was using to condition my hair. My hair is on the thinner side so after I wash it, I have to keep spritzing it with water because it dries out (horribly) before I can finish doing my protective style. Let me tell you!! My hair was so darn moisturized from the honey/shea butter! It was so shiny and healthy looking, and I was able to do all my twist without any spritzing. I didn't have to use anything but my fingers to detangle because it wasn't very tangled at all. Even if I am not going to do a henna, I have decided to add warm honey & shea butter to any conditioner. I couldn't go past a mirror without looking at my hair. I didn't recognize it.

Firsr: Thank You♡. Based on your recommendation I started doing the oil rinse (with grapeseed oil). My moisture retention has extended 1 to 2 additional days, and that means a lot. For this video the only thing I don't do is twist or braid my hair at night. I wear a cap. My hair stretches from twists but doesn't have a pattern or curl the next morning. But since so many of your recommendations work (ie. Blue Magic), I may try really loose twists under my cap to see if that reduces the remaining fairy knots.

My favorite product that I detangle with is my Aloe Vera oil that I make and the Garnier Whole Blends Conditioner line because it has Aloe Vera in it. And the The TGIN Miracle Repairx Protective Leave-in conditioner Yes!!! Everything you say is so true. I have already incorporated these methods. Oil rinses are a game changer for me. On your recommendation I started using oil rinses. All winter long I did oil rinses. It moisturized and kept my hair so soft and manageable. Plus it grows the hair as well. I also do a pre-poo every time I was my hair. I notice since doing the oil rinses I don't get any fairy knots. All these tips work. As long as you are consistent with your hair routine. And at night when I set my hair. It's in twist. I just put my hair up and use my silk scarf. Love all of your amazing videos. Thank you for sharing Curly Chemistry! Sending you, Curly Chemistry and everyone here love and light.🥰🥰

I detangle my hair weekly with African Pride pre-shampoo and Righteous Root Rx oil. The African Pride pre-shampoo literally melts your hair and makes it a breeze to detangle using my Felicia Heatherewood detangling brush. Then I sit under my hair steamer for 30 minutes or leave it in overnight. This has made my weekly wash day AMAZING!!!!! I don't wrestle with fairy knots. As always Tonya, you blessed us again!!🥰🙏🏾🥰

New to your channel! Was wondering if you had any videos on natural hair products without parabens/sulfates/artificial ingredients, specifically How to look for them in the ingredient section of a product? I know some companies tend to hide them in those big words.

I did search and destroy and realized it was hopeless and had to cut it all off. Bottom line- avoid search and destroy because feeling for the knots creates them when your hair is prone to them. I’m happy to have the chance to start over.

I accidentally left a piece of hair out a got 3 fairy knots just from that little piece. Your hair will also split right before the knot as well so be careful.
I'm gonna try one of those split end trimmers as well

You've good points and I get where you're going ... I would just tie the "loose ends":

1) define single strand knots first,
2) then causes of the knots ... which automatically ties in with prevention,
3) then, how to resolve the already existing knots.

From the presentation:
1) how does "pre-pooing and detangling" before shampooing prevent the knots (I, would tie this in with the "shampooing technique" thereafter),
2) how do "oil rinses" prevent knots ... doesn't "conditioner" also contain "oil" ... as well as the rest of the "styling products" thereafter,
3) is there no friction at "ends" of "twisted hair" when sleeping ... or on clothes, or when "fluffing" (I, would focus more on position of "ends"),
4) do "protein treatments" resolve "split ends", causes of "split ends", "friction"... and how?

Well, I used a water based gel on my hair in combination with a curling sponge -- the one made out of rubber/silicone by Kiss brand under Bow Wow 👨🏾‍🦱 the rapper's name (not the actual sponge material), so I don't think oil rinsing will work on the weeks I do that as it would prevent the gel from acting the way I need it to in order to give me the results I need . I DO pre-poo on most wash days.

But is using those curling sponges just a death sentence to your hair regardless of what precautions you take? Cuz it's bout the only style I can do myself that looks good with my 4z (that's right --- I said "Z") hair. But then I think of all the people that have tightly coiled styles still manage to grow long hair. How they retain & grown their length in spite of the detangling process is BEY🙄ND me 🤦🏾‍♂️!!

Hi there Curly Chemist 🤗I'd like to know, apart from the others causes of fairy knots, let's say my cuticles are lifted up/ opened and end up linking up with the others hairs/cuticles...
Why is it that those same "opened" or "lifted" cuticles dont seem to be actually opened as I experience dry dry dry hair and when I moisturize my hair, the product only seems to sit on my strands and not absorb into my strands...

Please help in this regard 😩🤒
Will be waiting on your response ❤❤
