Also don't be a snob. If you like the design of a Times.. bvuy it and ware it. I suy go with the flow :D
ОтветитьThis guy is cooler than the other side of your pillow. Balanced, calm, and squared away. Doesn't get any better.
ОтветитьThoughtful and thorough as usual. I find that we buy lots of watches that do one thing well but when it comes down to picking THE one, most will fall short (accuracy, reliability, versatility, etc). That's what Rolex does well, it's got all that but as a result is ubiquitous.
ОтветитьI bought a Chinese OLEV watch on ALibaba for $10.00 6 months ago...I get complements everywhere and people thinks it's a $10k Rolex....works for me lol
ОтветитьWhy don't watch collectors, or just wearers mention the "Quicksilver" ? I have had one, black dial, luminous dial and a quartz movement tat keeps excellent time ! Are they still made ?
ОтветитьI love the Explorer I. I have plenty of watches but that's one of the two that I always come back to. It's elegant but not flashy, a geeat tool, simple, easy to read and there is nıt much that could go wrong with it. I love it ❤
Ответить@andrewhanson9124 LOL, no, I mean I don’t wear leather strap dress watches often in the summer. I wear bracelet and nato watches in the summer and leather strap dress watches in the winter.
Ответить👏👏 thanks for a good video... Love to hear from a humble watch enthusiast like you
I like watches ; especially spending time to just look at dials and movement parts ticking, moving if watches have open casebacks.
My first watches as a kid was Casio f91w, G shock. Then later in early 20s I bought a brand called Swiss Legend (pretty much like Invicta) and not really happy with the quality. Then I moved to Seiko, Citizen love them. My first automatic is Victorinox with 7750 , love it and still wearing it. Then I got 2 Oris, one chronograph and another is gmt dresswatch; love them both. My first manual wind is Armand Nicolet ; small brand but beautiful. I recently got promotion and bought 2 watches that I want them for years, and I dont regret with that decision; one is Breitling Avenger chronograph, and another is Seamaster 300 chronograph blue....both are beautiful and Im happy ,cause I got my dream watches. I have another dream watch , which is JLC reverso dou.... but it too expensive 😂
I think you should rename this video: "Life lessons with the occasional reference to watches." lol Great video.
ОтветитьBest advice I got was "Buy what you like, if you want an investment, buy shares in an ETF."
ОтветитьI recently fell in love with the Aqua Terra, now I’m saving up for an Aqua Terra, not wasting money on a Seiko 5.
Ответитьmy first watch is a Grand Seiko SBGW301. Am I on the right path??
ОтветитьIt really does make so much sense to just wait, save and get the one you want. I could buy a couple that are close to the one I want, but when I finally got that piece, I'd end up spending so much more. So, I'll save.
Well, I'll spend when I get my December bonus😊
I have one watch which according to the "rules" is too large for my wrist. Don't care I wear it because I love it.
ОтветитьFirst Watch: Casio Duro (classic Diver)
What happened to me after buying: Nothing different but I just joined a diving community despite having an injured leg. Learned about how to use the rotating bezel for that specific activity (diving).
Second and Last Watch: Grand Seiko SBGH289
What happened to me after buying: Taught kids how to dive. Employed to my country as a SAT Diver. Rinse and Repeat for nearly 19 years since I bought the Casio.
I looked at both of them while cooking for my wife until I stumbled upon your video. I have nothing else to say other than I see the truth in what you say. Save for what you want and you'll get it. As cliche as it may sound like I always dismissed the thought "Trust the Process" thing until it inevitably came true. Eyes forward, brothers.
Very well balanced video
ОтветитьGreat to see you. Missed you and your videos! Loving the King.
ОтветитьI want to buy a watch that will either hold or appreciate in value and can be passed down. Any suggestions. Btw, not a watch collector....yet, and the last watch I bought and use daily is a Tissot Seastar 1000 Chronograph. I want my next watch purchase to be one I can pass down.
ОтветитьWe had a business meeting one day, and arrived all too late. No exception. When the chair informed after which watches we were wearing it turned out that the group spent an absolute fortune on watches and could not even arrive in time!
ОтветитьEh, there’s another Rolex pov. Rolex is boring. Once in a blue moon, they’ll have some weird fun dial. generally something I like and their Fanboys hate. So they’re kinda stuck. Zero creativity.
Ответить👍
ОтветитьI could listen to your voice while talking for hours
ОтветитьSo great to hear your calm, cool and collected thoughts on watches, without any fuss, snobbery and condescending - very rare! Thank you!
ОтветитьWise words indeed. My budget isn’t really up there, but I’ve found my level from a range of affordable Casios, G-shock etc. I’ve been into Seiko for so long, but latterly I don’t own any. I totally agree with one in, one out. Overall, though, I can’t see past quality engineering combined with value for money, and for me, at least, that reads Damasko. They are only gonna go from strength to strength. The DS30 in particular seems to hit so many qualities I want in a watch. A sucker for divers, up until recently, I just love this slim, über well built 39mm flieger/field/GADA watch. The in depth quality is great, with genuinely useful features that other makes don’t seem to do. It’s not cheap at £1000 plus, but comparing it to the likes of Seiko, Oris, Longines and Tag etc. it really holds its own. I’m having fun finding those sweet spot straps that suit it best and overall just love the fact that it’s relatively rare, even compared to the other German brand I like, Sinn. Thanks for this great video, you have reassured me that I’m on the right track. I’m no spring chicken and have loved watches for decades and along with my 40 year old G-Shock, which I’ll never sell, I’m finally finding my way. I’m in full agreement with you on the Pelagos 39, I’ve yet to see a better proportioned watch, but I think the price is out of my league…..maybe one day.
ОтветитьSuch a great video! I’m new to the hobby and this is the best & most concise advice I’ve heard. You’ve gained new subscriber
ОтветитьWhat I learned first is that I don’t look good if it’s less than 39-40mm.
ОтветитьI really like watches but in reality i only need and wear one watch. I have my trusty Casio 5000u-IER and need something else maybe a handful of times per year
ОтветитьOkay, you just casually used "shibboleth," so I will now watch everything you ever post.
ОтветитьWaffling. Knobhead.
ОтветитьI adore my quartz movement Cartier Pasha 38mm Chrono. Best gift I've ever received and the features are incredibly handy. Sometimes, I start the Chrono to just only get the "sweeping" hand motion (if I'm feeling fancy) knowing that it's pulling more juice from the battery. I would love to get an Automatic Santos 100 and daily it or a JRC. However I, as well as the content creator here, have always wanted an IWC since I was a boy.
ОтветитьI agree with the sentiments in the video. I found myself gravitating to certain watches or brands because the heard goes there. After a number of years, I simply started to go with my own preferences once I found out what those were. Now a wear a Seiko 5 as my daily. I'll probably get a couple of Grand Seikos next. I just prefer the Japanese brands.
ОтветитьI'm curious about the Chuda watch 🤔
ОтветитьI like your advice as someone looking for an everyday carry watch. I'm taking my time and looking for the watch that feels right.
ОтветитьThank you for this advice. I just got my first watch for Christmas and MAN is it a rabbit hole that you can get seriously lost in very quickly.
ОтветитьThe only watch I bought that wasn't cheap was my ten year old Bulova Precisionist Divers Watch ! All my other watches are £50 to £150. I don't want any Overpriced Mechanical Watches. My Bulova doesn't make me any happier than my Invicta Grand Diver Quartz ! I'v just bought a Five Senses Radio Controlled Talking Watch for about £12 and I love it ! I don't care what people think ! The Chinese Quartz watches have Seiko Movements. Buying Cheaper Watches allow me to have 3 Motorbikes !
ОтветитьArchie says it’s got to hurt.
Ответить3 month rule: I never buy a watch until I let 3 months go by. . . never seem to buy anything!
ОтветитьThat was good info. I have a couple of Rolexes, and I like them a lot. But the watch I almost always wear is a black 1969 tuning fork Accutron. It's just more interesting to me, and even with tiny nuggets encrusting the case, it's still by no means a luxury watch or a status symbol. But it's fun.
ОтветитьWhats that Gundams in the back?
ОтветитьRolex: I like them but they're too pretentious
ОтветитьWell done on the there are great quartz watches comment. 😅
ОтветитьBuy once, cry once. Buy the one you want.
ОтветитьHi could you tell me the make / model of the lamp in the background?
ОтветитьI listened to your lesson number one, and decided not to get the cw sealander just because I felt the aquaterra was too expensive.
I now have an aquaterra.
I like the simplicity of the oyster perpetual, but I refrain from buying one for the many reasons that you’ve mentioned regarding the Rolex. I haven’t researched any other because, although I like a nice watch for everyday use, I really don’t need a watch.
ОтветитьI couldn’t agree with you more on a Casio. I think it was my first from Santa and I still think it looks like a deliberate “cocking a snook” / showing your fun side with a good work or Dress suit. I also love the Citizen Eco drives because with a plain leather strap they look top range for tuxedo and I don’t have to worry about winding or battery. There is also something cool about knowing how good a Breitling is without the cooing that goes with Rolex. If one wants to spend a lot of money on a watch then the lower price end of Patik Phillipe is where I would go. I am definitely not fussed on too many complications and diamonds should have nothing to do with a man’s watch ( indeed any male jewellery unless you’re a rapper with an ear ring).
Ответить"John Mayer can buy watches in the airport with a hangover, you shouldn't" Brilliant
ОтветитьSo i should get tge a.Lange not the substitute..
ОтветитьExcellent video. I would say that lug-to-lug measurements are helpful for people with smaller wrists. Also I recently acquired a watch that I really liked but ignored because of dial size. Had the opportunity to try one on at an AD and it fit great. No replacement for just trying it on and seeing how you like it.
