Very informative and great video. I agree with all of your points. I come from a background experience of Real Estate and working in the Medical field. I must say that after being a reseller for 2.5 years I throughly enjoy working for myself and the freedom. It requires a lot of work like you mentioned. Its very similar to Real Estate in regards to the amount of time a person has to put into it in order to be successful and keeping records. A lot of people jump out of reselling after doing it for a year when tax time hits. They didn't track there mileage, keep all receipts etc. And when people see that they didn't make what they expected they quit. Starting a new business takes at least two years (most of the time) to make decent-good money according to financial lenders that review new loans daily. With that being said I totally agree with not to expect to make good money overnight. It takes a ton of work and learning. Thanks for the video.

I got my first sale on 11/26 which was tuesday. I mailed the article out the same day. I read in a cpl places to not send the 'bought item' until the $ appears in my account. It is now 11/28 (thursday) and the payment has not posted yet. From what I've read Ebay is all about customer service. Did I do the right thing? Should I be concerned?

I have been trying to figure out how to know how much I'm going to earn when all fees, taxes, shipping etc are done. Is the Ebay fee taken from the total bill (before or after taxes, shipping etc)? Does free shipping or buyer paying shipping affect the Ebay fee taken)? Hope I am making sense. Tha k you

You are SO RIGHT about overestimating your profits, and taking your TIME into account! If you bought something for $5 and sold it for $15 you made practically nothing. And you're working for less than minimum wage. Either you have big markups or need volume for your profits. But I know so many people who don't RUN THE NUMBERS! Some sellers can't even tell me what fees each platform takes. Thank you for this video... spot on!

Wow. I can’t thank you enough for this video. I started selling part time on eBay in 2007 and when they closed my place of employment in April I was so excited to try and make a go full time. I had a question, I saw your ebay shipping guide and it helped but I'm confused. after you created the lable for the package Who do you give the package to so they can ship it out? The postal?

You forget a few very important truths: 1) income will be inconsistent 2) you do not have control of many aspects of your business, mainly the platforms and buyers 3) Your business can be destroyed in one day if a major platform suspends your account 4) The environment for reselling changes every year, so what worked this year may not work in the future.

Off topic -- but what's with the new Ebay listing where you don't see what the postage range will be? Am I missing something? I used to be able to see the postage and easily click on other options, but that seems to have disappeared.

I really need help. Please, help me. I live in Norway and want to sell something internationally, for example to the USA or Europe. Which shipping service should I choose? Thank you so much for your expertise. Question re: pictures vs descriptions. When I started this about 18 months ago, I read somewhere to take pictures as if there is no description, and describe as if there’s no pictures. That seemed reasonable to me, but I’m spending so much time describing every detail, and I’m noticing other resellers don’t do that (by and large). Should I give myself permission to start minimizing this step? Thanks!

If they are not self disciplined enough to get up and get to work every morning, (your point that you can take a day off but not every day!) they won't have the consistency and follow through necessary to succeed. I am really missing something, I can’t seem to get anything listed. I am not a reseller, I need to declutter because I need to either sell my home or make it safer to age at home. We bought my husband’s family home and my mom in law lived with us. Well, in three years they both passed and left me with a three story house filled with stuff.

Not worried about money, I’ll be fine but I can’t imagine being 70 or 80 and dealing with it all. Family not interested.

I have watched many of your videos and thank you so much. Is there a way to view them in order? I’m having a heck of a time!

Thank you so much for this video. It is sooo difficult living alone, owning my business for years now, learning alone working alone, and its a daily struggle. Life gets in the way, things distract us constantly. We get in our own way. My mind burned out this year and my body was screaming at me to relax, neck pain carpal tunnel TMJ... Pretty much triggered by all this stress I put on myself to succeed. I use the google lens and i see listing prices.
have not figured out how to access sale item for the price that they’re selling for and the number of items out there being sold. I know it’s supposed to be under filter.
I located at one time, but I’ve never been able to again .

I just wanted to tell you that you are awesome! I have learned more from watching your vids and I have been watching at least one vid a day more in one week than I have in three months watching other vids from other people. I have trouble keeping up because they use filler words, techie jargon, or just trying to sell me a 400 dollar 3 week course while giving you useless info to trap you in. I am not a reseller on eBay but sell handmade items, sold 5 in my first month after the offsite ads kicked in after the learning period was done. I am following your basic steps and beginning a jewelry reselling business on Mercari with items I assemble or buy/source wholesale.Not exactly the same as eBay but gives me a idea on what to be doing just the same. You make things sound so much easier than my brain lead me to believe and is not as complicated as I first thought it was going to be, now that I been doing somethings as you explained it I can now jump in. UK Here , set up a buisness account this year January 1st as semi retired so time on my hands, I sell music memorablilia which is a passion of mine and had a collection to get me going, I have listed this year a total of aprox 2800 items and Sold aprox 900 items and loving it, it very much hard work but very addictive an love it, am braching into another line now and the best part is I source all from my kitchen table.

The family I grew up in was anti-selling, only the scum of the earth sold things. So I know the people who think anyone who sells is scum! Fast forward: my husband's family sells things all the time, they are wonderful & fairly wealthy. They are loved by their community. I wanted to learn to sell, because I love getting to look at jewelry & antiques. (I believe that without selling people never get connected with things they need or love.) I can't thank you enough for the help.
