Michael Cudlitz Calls Abraham and Glenn's Deaths "Too Much"

It was all i could think about for a few days when I watched the premiere

If y'all on set think this was the reason people left the show it 100% wasn't it just happened to be a moment when all eyes were on the show so you definitely were gonna have someone go against the grain and complain....among fans its still one of the top episodes of the series hands down! The emotion of that episode alone was incredible and the violence added to that dread.

Bad character in TWD..

As a big fan, I support the gore fully, but Abe should have lived for AOW. His death felt like a cheap gimmick. How do we top the comic? Do two instead of one. The cliffhanger really deflated most of the momentum as well. I loved episode 701 but nothing got me back to that build up from 616. For me, that was when TWD started to crack a bit. The story took a back seat to cheap tricks. The rest I blame on AMC for the shitty budgets. Lol Still happy the shows on!

Man I'm sorry but Glenn and Abe's were far more graphic and brutal than Noah's. Noah's was cool but it's an overrated scene.

It was too much as in it so sad to see 2 of the best characters get brutally murdered. But it wasn’t too much in that it made a right impact and great introduction for Negan.

Well let's hope he never reads the source material. Because the comics were more violent than the show. I think everyone who gets killed off a popular show ends up bitter about it.

If the deaths were "too much" than the show did it's job right. No one can convince me otherwise, and I don't why people like lying about the cliffhanger ruining it because everyone and their mother were at the edge of their seats during that entire episode from what I've seen, myself included.

Love Michael Cudlitz! & I totally 100% agree. I miss Abraham and Glenn. Also, their over-the-top murders eventually caused other characters to become weaker and, in my opinion, lame (i.e. Maggie, Rosita, Sasha - all three are shadows of their former characters, or dead, in Sasha's case). There was a lot of creative damage done to the show during this time period. Not naming any names LOL

As a fan of twd Abraham shouldve lived longer and of course glenn as well but Glenn started this show since season 1 and i may understand it a little but it was still wrong but glenn irl had a kid he had to take care of so i understand but abraham shouldve lived longer

I agree, here's another reason: the other brutal deaths were from a fake creature that you can't really be mad at. Another human is real, that situation could/does happen in real life.

I think what I'm saying is It's not an escape into fantasy if it could be real, it's a reminder of the brutal world we really live in.

They should have kept Abraham alive, there was no reason for them to deviate from how it played out in the comics. Of course, they only did it to "subvert expectations" but it should have just been Glenn that died, Abraham still could have died later on but it shouldn't have been during the lineup.

I will always miss the original theme of TWD first 6 seasons.
Rick Grimes and the group is what made me fall in love with the show.
Even though after S-6 it went in a total different direction and changed forever,I am still watching... but the emotional attachment is gone.😕

I stopped watching the show after they killed Abraham. I sobbed. I have had a crush on Michael Cudlitz for years. Heart broken. I know it’s just a show but Yeesh!!

I do think abraham should have lived for at least till the end of season 8 I think he could have played a big role in the war against negan.

First time watching it, tbh one of them shoulda stayed alive everybody will always have time to die I always thought abe was cooler than glenn but neither deserved to be overshadowed by the other got me straight sad face rn

And the viewership died soon after..... the show tanked... the spinoffs will be luck to last a year.

I think it was sort of unnecessary to have them both killed off, for the simple fact that they overshadow each other and they were both important characters.
