For the auto switch...If i have a rodecaster pro 2 as my audio input through usb c which clumps the mix into one track, is the only way for you to have auto mixing through the xrl's through the rodecaster video or rodecaster video audio inputs? I guess what im asking, lets say i have a three person podcast im mixing through the rodecaster pro ii, the auto switching feature really doesnt work well unless the audio inputs come from the rodecaster video, right?
ОтветитьYolobox Ultra vs Rodecaster video vs Osbot Talent please!
ОтветитьYolobox Ultra still the king mainly due to big screen and Replay feature
ОтветитьI suspect a Mk2 model with more HDMI or even SDI inputs could make me take the plunge. For now it feels like a very good ATEM Mini replacement but I'll stick with my Extreme and Yolobox Ultra for now. The Yolobox Extreme if they get it right, could outdo them all. If they could all launch an XLR adapter too though.
ОтветитьDo you know if you can export the video files to a network drive remotely? So that a team of editors can grab the files and edit from other locations
ОтветитьCan you explain if it is possible to this device to not upload the music track to VOD on twitch as is made in OBS ? it will be very helpful and I am sure it will be interesting :D
ОтветитьCan the overlays fade in and out?
ОтветитьThanks for the review
ОтветитьFantastic overview!. Would be nice to see how this could be use pair together with a Rodecaster Duo for PC or Console game streaming!.
ОтветитьI had a YoloBox Ultra for a short time. Found it to be an absolute letdown. Wish there was something as powerful and user friendly as this or the ATEM series but with a decent sized battery to get that easy mobility. Yolobox really got me excited for truely mobile production for streams, but i got my money back as soon as i could. Found it to be underpowered and not very user friendly, some weird interface choices etc.
ОтветитьGreat presentation! Im sure the 2nd version will be better, this seems to be more of hybrid of a video switcher and mixer or a high power stream deck.
ОтветитьI want you to show us how the intelligent switcher works with no operator.
ОтветитьWhat a nice review! Thank you very much! Could you compare Rode videocaster with Roland VHD1+?
Ответитьlove your color hdmi :)
where did you buy them? thnks
Features look good, but numbers are bad for me. 1080 in 2024 for $1200, this thing is already old.
ОтветитьIf I have 2 sets of rode go 2 mics (so 2 receivers and 4 mics) can they all connect to this via the wireless mic options or is it limited to 2?
ОтветитьAtomos has a great display that does switching and ISO recording
ОтветитьKnowing Rode products they lack listening to feedback and implementing much needed features. I don't expect supporting transparent videos, XML, and multi stream.
The Yololiv and ATEM are winners depending on the outcomes.
ATEM Mini Pro ISO / Extreme ISO is still a winner
ОтветитьWhat's Companion?
ОтветитьIt's a portable OBS Studio workflow 😂
ОтветитьJoseph, have you tried to do replay shots from the recorded files?
It's something that the software programs are able to do.
YoloBox Ultra is my champion on the battlefield! Please make a deep dive video and let more people know its power!
ОтветитьCan we bringing live Video from one of the USB C Ports? Eg connect IPHONE via USB-C or video from a computer?
ОтветитьI like the idea of the RCV. It looks amazing and seems like it can do 9 simultaneous video on screen according to documentation? But no video transparency, scripting and just a single active overlay are deal breakers for me.
ОтветитьLiterally the best review of this product out there. Thank you
ОтветитьI wonder if it has glitches or video dropouts like the Yolobox ultra?I really like the ultra but just like the YBP it can’t be relied on for corporate events.Ive had glitches and drop outs at a few different events.I may just have to try this to test the reliability!
ОтветитьRode are very lucky to have fantastic third party presenters like you to help them sell this excellent looking product. It’s getting hate for the 1080p but I have cameras like the FX6 and Fx30 that I’m sure will still look good enough with studio lighting etc
ОтветитьNo question the RCVideo has the best Audio. But it video is lacking. My RCP2 for Audio + my YoloBox Ultra is a 'much' better total package (yes it more $$$) but I had (like a lot of people) already have a RCP2 buying this thing is basically buying another RCP2. Not something I would recommend except to a few people
ОтветитьPretty awesome device! Great video on it as well!
ОтветитьThanks. A very comprehensive overview.
ОтветитьGreat review. The xlr audio inputs alone make this system extremely attractive, along with the headphone jacks and aux audio outputs, Looks like a very well-thought-out product.
ОтветитьIll stick to my Atem Extreme ISO.
ОтветитьShockingly expensive!
ОтветитьA shockingly good product showcase. The best overview bar none. I would like a deep dive comparison of the chroma keyer vs the ATEM Mini Extreme and also comparisons of Rode Multisource vs Supersource. Just fyi, as much as I want to buy this product, no Companion integration is a showstopper for me since Companion allows me to put the switcher and cables away from me and also doesn't require using different control apps from different vendors in a mixed environment (outside of initial configs).
ОтветитьGreat job PJ.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 There is definitely a use for this product. I'd like to see a head to head match up with the ATEM Mini ISO Pro Extreme. I think the versatility if the ATEM's super source is a plus, but the simplicity of the Rode scene function may carry it through. Let us see! 👍🏾
ОтветитьGreat device, but with no NDI or SRT, I can't leave the PC out of the chain. If I can't pull the PC, then I may as well build the scenes there because it's far more flexible. Chicken - Egg.
ОтветитьCrazy 1200 bucks for pos 1080p
Ответитьwhy are the camera views in multiview so low framerate?
ОтветитьMuch thanks for this video! It looks promising!
ОтветитьIncredible coverage of the RODECaster Video, Joseph!
ОтветитьMan, Joseph,... BackBlaze for the win. A very good product sponsorship, from a company that does what they say.
Ответитьwhat about custom stinger transitions?.. it would be awesome on future updates
ОтветитьI just wish they did more like Yolobox Ultra did.
ОтветитьIt's definitely Rode's shiny new box. Two things that really stand out to me as lacking here...
1. There's no video control. One thing I like about the ATEM product line is their ability to play nice with their Blackmagic lineup which gives you the ability to do everything from white balance, focus, and color grading, tally lights, and record to the device from the ATEM. That said, Rode is primarily an audio company, so it makes sense that their version is more audio-heavy.
2. The lack of Timecode IS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE for anyone planning to use this device in post-production. While everything should align nicely out of the box, Rode is only touting 1080p 30fps ISO recording capabilities. If you want, say, 4k footage at 60fps, you're going to need to record on the camera (in addition to the ISO) and edit in post.
As far as I can tell, this means that you have to hit record on the cameras individually (I have seen no indication that this can send a "record" signal to the camera), and that means you're going to start with footage that you'll need to sync up from the start. Especially with multiple cameras and microphones. It's also really disappointing to see timecode not being leveraged here when mics like the Rode Wireless Pros (which work with this system) have it not only built-in but also designed to sync from Rode Central, which happens to also be the software for this device. It just feels like that's an obvious fix.
But hey - let's not forget this is Rode. They released the original Rodecaster Pro with just a stereo mixdown... then upgraded to PolyWave... then finally made an app that allowed you to export all the tracks as separate files (but not isolated, because who doesn't love sifting through 8 of silence?)... So maybe we'll get there eventually.
If you add to that the fact that there's no XML project file you get here, then this feels like a real hassle for anyone wanting a tool that will also help with higher-quality post-production.
All that said, I can definitely see the application for this as a streaming tool, and if you plan to work in 1080p and/or streaming, this is certainly a cool device... just not for me or my needs. Thanks for the thorough review. It's very helpful (despite my rant). 🙂
FINALLY XLR into a compact video switcher.
I wonder if those antennas are also linked to the wireless microphone receiver?
Not a fan of that choppy Multiview thumbnails. I'm curious how this will compare to the Yolo box Extreme.
Also, the fact that the ISO recordings can only max to 1080p30 when your master program can output 1080p60 is unappealing.
Anyone know if you're able to assign the source for the two HDMI outputs?
ОтветитьUsing USB input on Yolobox Ultra from USB out on small mixer is not about and can negate the XLR input advantage of the Rodecaster Video, or can it?
ОтветитьConsider doing a deep dive comparison between the three with a focus on which tool is best for which situation. You briefly go over it at the end, but I think it's worth seeing the pros and cons for each use case with each tool. Like you said this looks like a great tool for video podcasts and more in studio setups. Plus this looks way easier to use than the ATEM mini. The Yolobox lineup seems way better for very mobile productions.
