DJI Air 3S Next-Gen Smart "Return To Home"

Super dumb question: if you move the pad, does it return to the pad? Or is it approximating the original pad position

I just got my 3S today and this is one of my favorite upgrades. RTH was already pretty accurate on the Air 3 but the 3S is on another level. Every time I've brought it back home it lands in almost the exact position it took off from. Well done DJI.

WOW! I live in a tree filled area as well, Can't wait to get my Air 3s if they ever ship them to the US.

my Mini 3 crashed due to it's link to the satellites weakening mid-air (I even saw 0 satelites linked) & the drone was tough to control

Is this better then the Mavic DJI Air 3 ?

What would happen if you flew around it in the opposite direction first (under the trees) and then back this way to go above the trees.
Would the Air 3s remember the entire path or just the first bit when it first took off?

Impressive ! And it didn't even back track ! Now I'm not sure when/why you'd need this feature since flying generally has to be with VLOS but impressive nonetheless ;-)

That is impressive, but even more impressive is what I saw on another video where the Air 3S took off with no GPS satellites connected and the drone was able to return home on it's own with this new technology. That's the only video I've seen of somebody showcasing that so far. Blew me away, though! Sometimes in remote locations of in the Appalachians, I don't want to sit around waiting for satellites to connect. But I'm still confused, what happens if the satellites do connect while flying, does it automatically reset the home point? I don't know why more people don't mention this in their reviews. This is by far the most superior new feature to me.

Some random guy on chinese video platform showcased a RTH from sky to a twisty underground basement. It was filmed just next to DJI HQ though, wanna try that out?

DC Rainmaker’s 3s was crashing into trees and all sorts, it wasn’t avoiding them at all.

Whats to stop it picking up on a previous path and returning to that, or does it create a new path to follow each time?

Now I'd be interested to know if the auto-return to home sensing picks up overhead power lines. Where I fly very often, my #1 concern is not trees. It's power wires.

That's so nice! I want to order this drone but I've heard from people having difficulties getting them due to unit being hold at customs and not releasing them to their new owners. Do You think it's safe to order them here in USA?

Impressive but.... Always think about the landing before taking off. Suppose You a take off, from the hand, standing in a field of grass, 2 feet high.... Either hand catch the drone or manually direct it to a suitable landing spot nearby.

It looks like it came the way it took off, not make a new way around the trees.
