I started metal detecting when I was a kid in 5th grade….I can relate to Paddy’s excitement in finding treasure…he already has a high passion in the hobby, a good historical recognition for old coinage/artifacts, and will be learning the finer details of metal detectors years ahead of the average aged treasure hunter. Great video Gary…… This video has left me with mixed emotions…. On the plus side I was about Paddy’s age when I first started detecting and good luck to him!!! However on the downside,,, I didn’t have Gary Blackwell digging my holes for me!!! Fantastic job; really appreciate your work!

What an absolute pleasure to watch, young Patrick is a true professional and history enthusiast. I've been fortunate enough to build a good relationship with Paddy & family and have spent many days detecting together up here in Derbyshire and down in Hampshire. Gary, thanks so much for this video with ecucating a youngster! It is always better to go to the nature than looking at TV or to the PC. Either detectoring or fishing, or bushcrafting... When my grandson is a little bit bigger, I believe do be able to do the same witn him!

Heartbreaking story, but is this really what we need??? We need updates, technical support, top tipps, answers to the important questions. Do we have time to watch such "soft" content? Definitely not, because there is no information included which is important for us...

Quick question, may sound dumb, however, I’ve noticed in some videos you keep the coil to the ground when turning on or changing settings, while other times you lift it off the ground! Does it make a difference or not wether the coil is off the ground when powering up or changing programs/settings? 😎✌️

This lad can swing the Deus for sure! Fun watching a young man being this interested in metal detecting! I've been trying out a couple of different detectors myself but I do prefer the XP detectors. As soon as being used to Orx and Deus II (which I have) all other detectors feel soooo heavy. And I've experienced that XP detectors are extremely good at finding coins in particular, and good at telling me that there's a coin down there somewhere.

Great video I hope my kid gets interested in this hobby (he is 10 years old at the momment) Also one question about the root slayer you using, I got mine from amazon and its a lot bigger than that one its quite unconfortable, is there a specific model you are using? thanks and sorry for the out of place question! 😅
