Hmm, I’ve been in Bangkok 10 ปีแล้ว and I can tell you 10 years ago, dating is not the same as now. Of course I was in my 20’s now 30’s so it’s different but the Thai women and culture is different as well. A lot of Thai women subscribe to American train of thoughts these days. They will write on their profile 180cm+ men only. Or they will have many คนคุย which just means they play around with many guys as the norm. To be honest, 10 years ago I thought “ok Thai guys do like to play around, that saying is true”. But nowadays women are the same as men. Equality right? Women do the same exact things. Additionally women these days are demanding as hell. They want a man to take care, pay for this or that, or teach them or give them, basically you gotta be way more than just a bf. You gotta be their parent, bf, bank, life coach, career counselor, etc etc etc. because they wanna be “independent strong women” and they will use you to do it. Honestly I hear a lot of “me me me me me” these days along Thai women, they sound the exact same as American women. Guess the American culture has pretty much invaded Thailand. Of course it’s not all girls, but compared to 10 years ago, there are way more alpha female argumentative manipulative dominating girls these days. So if you’re trying to find a “traditional woman” wrong country. The average Bangkok girl isn’t “traditional”. This is probably the best example, when you first meet a Thai girl she’s like a charmander, so cute but still got a bit of fire, after she becomes your gf she turns into a chameleon, more ferocious, then after marriage she becomes “head of household” charizard, with anger big enough to engulf Thailand.

I find it really easy. If you don't want to pay a dowry, don't go to Thailand looking for a wife. Meet a girl in the country you're from. The disrespect in the comments is crazy. I'd never go to another country and tell them I won't do something because I don't do it in my country. If you go to Thailand and the family requests a dowry, PAY THE DOWRY, or get out of the country. I see why most of you "men" have to travel abroad for a wife in the first place.
